"very nice stay at hotel chateau de Belmont"
this is the ideal stay before going to the west coast of France; we spent there 1 night , not directly in the chateau but in the new building , well equipped , everything ok, we went to the massage as well, (if possible book in advance), people are very helpful , kind with customers, diner and breakfast excellent , really an addree to recommend !
"Spacious room and lovely gardens"
I stayed at Chateau Belmont for two nights as part of a tour organized by Viking Cruises, and I was delighted. My room was in a modern building adjacent to the historic chateau. The room was huge and had every amenity I could ask for and some I didn't even need, like a fridge and hot plate. I didn't have a great view, but I didn't mind that because all I had to do was walk out the front of the building and explore the lovely grounds. The hotel restaurant served a passable preselected dinner to our group the first night of our stay. Those who chose to dine a la carte the next day told me that the food was truly excellent. Breakfast certainly was great. The hotel is located in a residential area away from the center of Tours, but the main tram line is only about 3 blocks away, and actually to walk into the city would only take about 20 minutes. Right around the corner is an amazing gastronomic restaurant, Charles Barrier, that I reviewed on this site. Overall, I think Chateau Belmont is a great choice in Tours, and I would happily stay there again.
"Globally OK but not up to expectations"
This 4-star hotel is pleasant, staff is welcoming and helpful, the place is relaxing, the room was clean and comfy, the garden is nice. However, I did not find what I seek from an independent 4-star hotel : to be surprised by these small things that make it feel unique. The architecture of the new buildings that were built around the original manor is too standard to go on well with the manor. The decoration inside made me feel like if I was in an hotel chain like a mercure or a radisson, a bit impersonal. The spa was small for the number of rooms, especially the sauna.
"Lovely room and service"
Stayed here for one night and wish we could have stayed longer. The room was luxurious, spacious, and modern. Bed super comfortable. Nice touch was the stand speaker that we could hook up our music too and plug in USB cable. We also ate dinner at the restaurant. Last minute reservation the staff squeezed us in. The service was really wonderful, can't say enough great things about how helpful and attentive the staff was. The grounds were lovely.
"Exceeded expectations, but no rosé wine!"
Stayed in room 01. Junior Suite. Good choice, as it had nice views over gardens. Friendly, professional welcome on arrival for a two night stay. Room was in very good condition and well equipped. Huge bathroom with decent shower and great range of toiletries. Comfortable bed and large TV, along with Bluetooth soundbar for smartphone. Nespresso-type coffee maker (but with only two capsules - mean!). Good wifi. Good choice of drinks at bar, but no staff in evidence. I had to ask reception whenever a drink was required. Barman was busy elsewhere laying tables for dinner. Could do better! Food in restaurant was exquisite. Perfect fillet steak. Interesting velouté. Surprisingly, no rosé wine. We were told the only choice on the wine list had all been drunk. Must do better! Breakfast, though not cheap, was sumptuous. Excellent choice of varied foods to suit all nationalities. Best breakfast yet in any French hotel. Walk to old town is 20 minutes. Very interesting. Many bars and decent restaurants in Place Plumereau. Chez Gerard was fun - tables so close together, you have to talk to other diners! Then catch the tram back up the hill. €1.60 each. Every 5 minutes (15 on Sundays). Highly recommended hotel. Just don't be mean with the bottled water & Nespresso.
