"Excellent Hotel in beautiful Tours"
We spent 5 nights in this wonderful hotel and enjoyed every minute of it. Extremely friendly and helpful staff, very comfortable and clean room, excellent food. Overall simply perfect. We would definitely go back there.
"Nice hotel, bit far from centre "
Arrived at the hotel through many little roads. Relatively easy to find with the use of google maps. Managed to park in the sheltered car park. The old part of the hotel looks fantastic from the outside but new extension makes it look like they have added a holiday inn next door. Arrived at 3 o'clock (check in time) and the room wasn't ready. Around 45 minutes later a lovely man showed us to our room and our luggage was already in there. Room was pleasant, large comfortable bed with plenty of towels and a dressing robe available too. Lack of hotel information available. Wandered across the grounds to the pool/sauna/steam room. Nobody on site for guidance but found a locker and used the facilities. This itself was a real treat, very quiet and relaxing. Service a little slow when wanting drinks or coffee, but staff seemed happy to help when available. No information given on check in regarding the centre or how to get there. Managed to navigate ourselves but further away than we realised. In the end we got a taxi back to the hotel to save our legs from the uphill route! Overall a very nice stay but little extras could have made it fantastic.
The staff looks depressed and has no intention to give you a feel-good moment. The breakfast was terrible. Eggs were watery and cold. Pancakes were cold. We had to wait for half an hour to get a coffee. We asked for a second coffee and they refused. En yes we speek french and they could perfectly understand us.
"Luxury modern hotel in beautiful grounds"
We stayed in one of the suites which was spacious with great bathroom and very comfortable bed. The restaurant is good with a lovely terrace and the food is fine, but what makes it is the beautifully manicured pond with tributary stream and small green and reedy islands where the bullfrogs send up a wonderful chorus in the evening. We have noted some other comments about the service and indeed we wondered how the restaurant manager, who doubled up as sommelier, and the waitress would have coped if it had been more crowded. However service was punctual, with a good advice offered on the wine selection, and listening to the wind in the reeds made for a very pleasant evening. Breakfast also is good and varied. Location is excellent and the town centre is easily accessible via a 10-15 minute walk down to the bridge over the river, or a 5 minute tram ride in the main street just near the hotel where tickets can be bought at the machines by the tram stop. Would come again if we revisit Tours which is a really nice city with a young and friendly feel. The hotel, finally, is not cheap, but is value for money.
"Great Location, But It Costs"
We recently stayed here for 3 nights whilst on a touring holiday in France. We had 2 rooms in the chateau next to each other which was a bonus as we were a family, both also had balconies. One room was a very spacious suite with a sitting area, elements of the room need addressing such as broken skirting boards and broken tiles on the balcony which also needed cleaning. The bathrooms were very clean with good towels and toiletries. As seasoned travellers over many decades we are always quick to pick up on hotel restaurant pitfalls, such as the standard 45 mins wait for food along with wine with the exact same label at 10 times the cost of the supermarkets...a common, unacceptable practice. The way around this is to order the dish of the day as room service, which in our case arrived within 20 mins of ordering, beautifully cooked, nicely presented by a lovely member of staff. We then partook of our own wine which was beautiful quality at a fraction of what we would have paid in the restaurant. Overall a lovely experience, which enhanced our stay. Whilst sitting on our balcony overlooking the restaurant we became aware of diners who had been seated long before we ordered our room service and still had no food in front of them even after we'd finished our meal. The parking is excellent and the grounds are lovely although we could not quite understand why so many elderly and infirm people were around the hotel complex, until someone made us aware that the hotel shares the grounds with residential apartments for the elderly. Would we stay here again' Definitely.
