"Great for a quick stay "
Very basic hotel in a nice part of town..I wouldn't stay here again, because I've stayed at average hotels like this with better amenities...however for my 1 night stay for that price it was not too bad & the night receptionist was really nice & accommodating...he took my bags to the room while I went to find something to eat...very clean but small room...the staff seemed very friendly..short distance to the trains...
"Charming Hotel in a nice neighborhood"
The rooms were lovely and had an old charm about them but were clean and well kept. the roomw we had also had a kitchen with a stove top and microwave and fridge. The staff were nice and helpful. Not sure it had elevators. We used the stairs but they might have an elevator tucked away in the back. The neighborhood was so nice. Walking around those streets with all the architecture was wonderful and we felt safe. The hotel was also a 7 min walk to a large Royal garden called Hyde Park and "Lancaster Gate" tube station. You can go anywhere in London from there and in no time. Even if you decide to walk there is shopping and lots of things to see if you walk 20 min down the road. It is really busy around Lancaster Gate but the hotel is nicely tucked up among buildings and side streets that the hotel is fairly quiet on the street its on. I would be back there in a second if I could. It was our first trip to London and we had a great time. There was one thing I can say that is negative. One night there was noisy people above us stomping around that was anoying but was just the one night and we were there 5 nights. We didn't complain to the staff but could have. Cheers
"Comfortable Hotel Brilliantly Located in Bayswater"
I stayed at The Cleveland for 9 nights last month. Being a solo traveller and not wanting to eat out every night I chose it for its location and for the fact it had a kitchenette where I could prepare my own meals. The hotel is 5 minutes walk from bustling Queensway with plenty of shops, Bayswater Station (Circle & District line) and Queensway Station (Central line). Paddington Station, Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens and Kensington Palace are all about a 10 minute walk away. So the location was perfect, particularly for me with early morning runs around Hyde Park being first order of the day. The London underground really is sensational. I had no problem walking to Baywater Station alone at night, getting the tube into the West End, seeing a show and returning the same way. Always plenty of people about and completely safe. You can walk to Notting Hill market if you feel energetic. About a 25 minute walk from the hotel to Portobello Road. The hotel itself was well presented, clean and quiet, situated a few streets back from Bayswater Road in a very quiet residential area. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom modern. I opted for an executive room which I believe is slightly bigger than standard. The staff were friendly and helpful and granted every request I made (room on a higher floor, view, kitchen utensils). When I had an issue with the safe (user problem) they attended immediately. The kitchenette was great. Although small it allowed me to prepare a cooked breakfast in the mornings, a packed lunch (being a Coeliac makes it difficult to buy lunch on the run) and I was able to reheat takeaway food in the microwave. That really was the clincher. They don't provide pots and pans by default, but are happy to provide them on request. I really enjoyed my stay at The Cleveland and would absolutely recommend it to anyone wanting a brilliantly located quiet low key hotel with excellent service and comfortable accommodation.
"Good value, great location, nice rooms, friendly staff,"
Three of us (me, my husband and our adult son) spent 4 nights at the Cleveland in Sept 2016. Our room was quite large with a small kitchenette (the table was a great place for dropping stuff). The room overlooked the street and had multiple sets of french doors on to a small balcony. It was very comfortable and the staff was very nice, but it was a just a little bit run down. The carpet could have used a good cleaning, the shower grout needed to be cleaned, some of the towels were unraveling, and some of the bed linens had been mended. There were many light bulbs burned out which were replaced once we mentioned them to the front desk. It would have been nice to have a bit more space to hang enough towels for 3 people. The location was good. A very quiet neighborhood in easy walking distance of Paddington Station.
"Outstanding rooms, location, and most of all - customer service"
Stayed for 4 nights, the room was spacious, had all the necessary amenities, and the service was great (especially given some small changes I requested for our reservation). The neighborhood is very nice and within striking distance of several subway stops, the park, and a street with some very good restaurants. I can't recommend the nearby Greek restaurant - Halepi - enough. Only problem was that the pillows were a little lumpy but aside from that it was great. The price is fair, a little steep for my taste, but it's London, so...
