"Perfect La Condesa location."
I have enjoyed two long weekends at this beautiful hotel smack dab in the middle of the leafy La Condessa neighborhood. Walking distance to restaurants/shops, Colonia La Roma, Parque Chapultec & Museo Antropologia (albiet a long walk) make it a central location. The rooftop bar and courtyard restaurant are destinations for the local residents which makes the evenings lively but not overwhelmingly loud for guests. The rooms are small yet lovely with nice views of the neighborhood. The patio rooms face inward to hotel courtyard. I will return again, and again.
"Not a fan"
I had high hopes for this place, based on some positive reviews I’d read. Sadly, I was completely underwhelmed by the whole experience. On the plus side, it’s in a good location and they do have a great rooftop bar. And, the front desk, housekeeping and airport pickup (though it was literally six times the price of Uber) were all friendly. The room itself left a lot to be desired, however. It was small (maybe 12’x12’), drab, minimally-furnished and oddly configured. It had a damp and musty smell that made it feel dirty the entire time I was there. The lighting was abysmal – I had to shave by the window because the light in the bathroom was so dim. The TV was tiny, with few stations. For some reason, I was never given any washcloths after my first day. My toilet screeched when it flushed and odd rumblings and other noises from the building frequently woke me up at night. The internet was laughable - the hotel has multiple networks but I needed to switch back and forth between them constantly to find one that worked – often I just gave up. On my last afternoon, a dog barked incessantly for hours inside the hotel before I finally called the front desk and asked if they could do something about it. I was frankly shocked they didn’t take it upon themselves to put a stop to that without having to be asked. What surprised me most about this place was the price tag - Mexico is generally a great value for US travelers these days, thanks to a very favorable exchange rate. But a 4-night stay in my modest, dark room set me back over $1,300, which seemed woefully overpriced for what I got. I’ve stayed at far worse places over the years, but for all the hype (not to mention the cost) this place should have been much, much better. I won’t be back.
"They cleaned with bleach while I was eating dinner :|"
I mean... we all want to go home. But it's just 9:30pm...and I'm not the only one here. This is supposed to be a 'chic' boutique hotel. But I was expecting more- Service was great both at the sushi bar/restaurant and the ground floor, but the food is average so when they started bleaching the floor while I was waiting for dessert it kind of forced me to give them an 'average' rating. Management should really be aware that customers would not enjoy their meal or drink while smelling Clorox or whatever they are using... smells like a a minty version of Clorox. My friend was excited for me to come here and go to the roof... roof was also meh but I would come back for an aperò. But I would not comeback here for dinner. Maybe my expectations were too high...
The general value proposition of the hotel is the location and the rooftop bar. In those two areas I can't really take issue; although the rooftop bar isn't life changing by any stretch. The rooms, while small are clean (some have said they had dirty rooms, which wasn't the case for us). The issue that ultimately has me telling people to stay elsewhere is simply that the staff seemed utterly disinterested in being even remotely helpful. We asked on multiple occasions about things to do and see in the city - and these were specific questions about well known activities for the most part. Every time we asked a question we were met with an "I dont know." What is worse is no one ever demonstrated any interest in being even remotely helpful. There wasn't any effort to even find out. Its also pretty strange that locals wouldn't seemingly know anything about their city. As a foreign guest I felt very much like a foreign guest. I had hoped that staying in a small hotel would have allowed for a more intimate experience with the hotel, when in fact the opposite was true. All in all #FAIL.
"Beautiful hotel in a lovely location - best weekend getaway spot"
A friend and I went to Mexico City for a few days and this hotel was just delightful. It's a gorgeous hotel with excellent service, a charming downstairs courtyard (where they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner) and parlor with bright teal walls, comfortable which couches and lots of nooks, and a beautiful rooftop. The room itself wasn't that large but was comfortable and had a nice bathroom. And the location was excellent (and quite safe), right by the park in the heart of Condesa. I would absolutely stay here again!!
