This is our 3rd time in the Maldives - last two at Baros - and this time at the Conrad using Hilton Honors points for 9 nights. We changed to a water villa - as this became available for the same points as a beach villa late in the day. Things we loved: Vilu for breakfast. Oysters Rockefeller and eggs Benedict on the water front served a la carte. Amazing - and the best I’ve ever had. Lovely staff too. The resort is a good size spread over two islands - plenty of room to get away to a peaceful spot - and great for exercise. The Quiet Zone pool is stunning and super quiet! Its so beautiful and gets the breeze so you don’t get too hot. Nice free popsicles too! Our water villa was lovely - big and well appointed. Fantastic air con too. Great coffee machine (free) and WiFi worked really well. Mandhoo is the best restaurant by far. Amazing food, incredible location and worth every penny. Fantastic staff. Complimentary tea at Mandhoo and drinks at Vilu we’re wonderful and a highlight of the day! Best tea and cakes ever and then cocktails and wine before dinner! Perfect! Really good gym and attentive gym staff. Great equipment and great view! Things we didn’t love: Atoll Market. We went for breakfast one day and it was very disappointing. Service was not so good and it felt like a corporate hotel buffet. We don’t try dinner as it seemed to be very similar. Rangali Restaurant. Very noisy and lacking any intimacy. Mostly full of noisy, shouty people and the service was not a patch on other restaurants Shopping. The 3 or 4 shops were just expensive clothes or jewelry - you couldn’t buy a snickers bar or any other snacks any where. The mini bar didn’t have any sweets/candy either. I guess this is to make sure people buy more deserts ;) The buggy and electric bike traffic is frustrating for those of us who want to walk and enjoy the islands. Frankly they are close to dangerous and I’m sure there will be an accident soon. The bridge needs widening or a new path! The house reef is disappointing and there doesn’t seem to be any attempt to improve or cultivate the reef. I think it’s being exploited and it’s pretty dead. The sunset water villas don’t get the breeze - so the deck was just too hot for use. Luckily the Quiet Zone pool is close by. Overall: A great holiday! Lovely staff, beautiful islands and some great restaurants. We loved it - but it would be good if they could improve a few areas. Thanks Conrad!
One of the best experience I have ever had. If you want to go to heaven and forget about your real life, this hotel is the best choice. All rooms are great regardless of their sizes. Staff are very friendly and they welcome you as soon as you get of the plane. You can have dinner or lunch under water. They have many aqua-activities. The main issue is the prices. You need big budget to spend in 2-3 days.
"Wonderful family holiday"
Recently traveled with the family, staying at this resort over the New Year period. Four people traveling, staying in a pair of Deluxe Beach Villas. Villas are extremely spacious and gave us plenty of room, with a short path leading out onto the beach. Stayed on the Ocean side of the island, rather than the lagoon. This means that you do not get the sunsets (which are short but spectacular) but you do get the breeze which can make quite a difference when the temperature is high. The ocean side of the island is also where the house reef is, so descent snorkeling right off of the beach. The reef is not in great condition (as is the case across a lot of the Maldives) but there is plenty of aquatic life and some live corals further out towards the ocean. Did a number of dives with the resort dive center. Excellent care from the staff (Nic & McMillan) and hire equipment is all in good condition. Were here in Manta season and were fortunate to get up really close with these huge rays on three occasions. Nice variety of dive locations within 60 minutes on the dive boat. Got to see turtles and sharks. Dining - buffet breakfast in the Atoll Market - plenty of variety to choose from including fresh sushi and Maldivian curries. Thank-you to Zaya who took care of us each morning! Note - there's a rush around 10:30am, so if you'd like your omelette, go there first! If you're HH Diamond, there is a tea served at the Mandhu restaurant at 4pm. Can be a bit hit and miss but the scones are fresh each day. Can also be pretty busy (actually had people queuing for a table on a couple of days). Dinners - used the Rangali bar on a number of evenings. Had really good Chinese at Ufaa. NOTE - there are items that are not on the menu that you should check out. The Peking Duck is fantastic but needs to be ordered in advance, so if you make your dinner reservation, order your duck. Expensive - yes - fantastic - yes! Only had duck that good in Beijing! We only discovered the Sunset grill towards the end of our stay but really enjoyed the food there (Tuna steaks were fantastic as well as the grilled pineapple!) and its fun spotting the small sharks that swim around the pavilion. We were there over New Years. Excellent event with live band, extensive buffet and excellent fireworks on the beach. Really great to see the staff enjoying themselves for a few minutes at midnight. Must say thank you to Naeem (assigned guest liaison) for taking care of us during the stay, the water activities team (kids had a blast of the X-blade!) and to Anees (executive housekeeper) whom we met at the New Year's reception. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would certainly consider coming back here!
We were here for our honeymoon. It’s a paradise for couple or even family. The place is neat, modern and fantastic. Staff are very helpful and kind. Although food is extremely expensive, it’s delicious and exquisite！ Highly recommended!
Just had a recent trip to Conrad Maldives. 1. Its five star hotel, but they don’t really pay attention to small details, ie: they don’t replace the toothbrushes/shavers (toiletries) unless you ask them to. 2. They don’t use a specific brand of shampoo/body wash - its in a regular bottle of their own, so its probably a generic brand, i think Conrad HK used Ferragamo. 3. The restaurant staff doesn’t pay attention to small details- if I ask for a straw no one brings it for me, until i ask for the third time. They forget to refill my coffee which i have ask them twice to do. Its just small things that the staff should be paying attention to and don’t. 4. Undersea restaurant is super over-priced and not worth the money. The chef uses expensive ingredients but has truffles in every dish including dessert, not so creative in plating or food as its a price of a Michelin star restaurant. But on good points: 1. Super kid friendly - all the staff seemed to really love the guests kids there, very friendly and good interaction with kids. 2. Accommodates to the Asian taste buds as they have Chinese hotpot in the Chinese restaurant. 3. Snorkeling is great, you just jump in the water and see all sorts of fish, coral, and even a turtle and baby shark.
