"Amazing Location , Average Hotel"
We stayed one day on our way to Faroe Islands. The location , just few meters from Nyhavn the most beautiful part of Copenhagen is excellent. The atmosphere and decoration in the Lobby and Public areas are really special. There is an amazing bar-restaurant overlooking the canal witch is a must either for coffee or lunch The room is also special decorated and cozy and our room had a fantastic view through the window. Bathroom needs urgent renovation . It must have not been touched since the 80's . It's a 2* bathroom. Also avoid the hotel if you are travelling during summer. Believe it or not there is NO Air Condition !!!
This is a really busy hotel. The reception staff are lined up behind a long desk and a row of computer screens. Our checkin was friendly enough and efficient, however we were told that because we were going to stay a few days we had been upgraded to a larger room. We were very grateful however when we checked our documentation from our travel agent the supposed upgrade was the room that we had paid for! The hotel building is historic (an old grain store converted into a hotel). Our room overlooked a busy street (rather than the canal) amd was incredibly noisy. The room was quite warm and stuffy with no temperature control. We did find a fan in one of the cupboards and plugged it in for some air movement. We opened the sliding door to let air in but at night it was just too noisy to leave it open. The hotel room looked tired and dated with old furnishings. The exposed wooden beams inside the rooms may appeal to some, but honestly they were in the way and we had to duck around them. The walls were also paper thin and we could here knocking and banging from either next door or above, which kept us awake after midnight. For a 4 star hotel, we found it quite strange that they would only portion out tea/coffee etc to 1 serve per person per day and no complimentary water. There were very limited power points and all of these were old style and at floor level. Be careful not to turn off the mains power switch by mistake! The breakfast was adequate enough but very busy, with groups of people on tours. The location was good, within walking distance to many attractions and to Paper Island where you can get a cheap dinner. If you are looking for a quiet and more modern hotel, then the Admiral is not or you.
"Pre and post cruise. Best location. "
Great location. 8 minute walk to picturesque Nyhavn historic canal/harbor. Five minute walk to the Palace. See changing of the guards at 12 noon. Position yourself to the left of the entrance for best view. Highlights are tour by boat and hop on hop off red line. Stop by Tivoli gardens. So much to see. Hotel is historic. Breakfast buffet is very complete. Excellent. Love the pickled herring. Rooms a bit small but very clean and well maintained. Comfortable beds Kings are 2 twins out together. Excellent service. Salt Restaurant 4 star! Hotel has no air conditioning but you may only have to worry about that in July or August. Summer nights are cool and the rooms have fans. Nothing negative about this hotel. Nice Patio bayside for drinks and dining. The entire staff is very friendly and go out of the way to make sure your biggest or smallest request is taken care of promptly. Photos are attractions in less than 8 minute walk from hotel.
"Great hotel, staff and location!"
Visited in April 2017, for my daughters 18th Birthday celebration. The hotel is stunning, beautiful building. Reception staff very friendly and efficient - upon check-in, we received a free waterside room which are at the front side. The room was a good size, bathroom a little tight, but its an old converted warehouse!! The hotel restaurant was superb, expensive, but if your a foodie, worth every penny! My only gripe, was the walls are I'm guessing pretty thin as my neighbours arrived back, lets say rather "worse for ware" lol and were incredibly noisy, to the point they woke us up just by laughing and talking but it seemed very loud! Also, the upstairs room must have had tiled flooring, as they decided to roller suitcases up and down for around 20 mins at 0400 ! But that's not the staffs fault of course! Nyvhan is only a 10 min walk to the canal, pretty coloured buildings and all the canal side bars and restaurants. Take a canal boat around, was lovely. Go right out of the hotel, and walk 5 mins and you arrive at the Danish Royal families palace, lovely open circular plaza style, saw the changing of guards. As you walk through the square the amazing Frederick marble church with the golden dome - a must .... stunning inside. We took the time to go around the Rosenborg Castle, gardens and to see the Crown Jewels, defo worth a visit. Hop on one of the city buses, as Copenhagen is not that big of a city, and you get to see the whole city and all the landmarks. Further along the promenade of the hotel, is the port and The Little Mermaid. Its a lovely walk from the hotel along the waterfront. We visited the Tivoli Gardens, which was amazing, so much to see and do in there and the rollercoaster rides were pretty good!! All in all a great hotel and a great City !
The location of this hotel was great. Close to Nyhavn, shops and restaurants. Set on the canal that overlooks Paper Island and the Opera House. The rooms were very small and there was no place to unpack clothing except for a small closet. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
