"Great value, large rooms, strong wifi!! "
We loved this hotel!! The location is not central but if you have a car it's very easy to get down to the bay and downtown by castle. Great outdoor area by bar to sit outside by large pond. Rooms large and comfy beds. Wifi works great. Clean rooms and bathroom. Friendly staff. Lots of free parking. Only downside is food in restaurant/bar is a bit overpriced but very good quality!
"Needs updating and not disabled friendly"
Pool was down steps, no loungers to relax. Lockers were broken and nothing on my key to attach to my costume. Showers lovely with free hairdryer to use. Our room was clean and tidy however dated. Too different curtains materials! Restaurant evening meal was lovely and service good. Breakfast was nice plenty of choice however there were steps that you had to use to get to the servery. Overall pleasant but probably would not book again
"Terrible is an understatement."
Took 25 minutes to check in after they tried to convince me that I needed to pay again. Tv switched itself on at 2am. Fire alarm about 1m from my head going off at 4am. Only one towel for a double room. Filthy windows. No word of an apology. Avoid.
Brilliant staff. Everyone super friendly - couldn't do enough to help - even looked after our mountain bikes. This made a huge difference to our stay. Many thanks. Spot on! Breakfast good, beds comfy and a decent spa. Bar serves food until late. Overall really good, all of the above more than make up for the slightly dated decor. Would definitely use again.
"Not 4 star - more like 2 star"
The hotel is very tired and in need of a refresh. The shower was better than useless and the bathroom smelled like an bad nursing home. The food was not great at all. The menu was extremely limited for both bar and restaurant. I had a cheese and ham omelette and asked for it with extra dressed salad instead of chips. My omelette was cooked in veg oil which had been taking from the fryer, you could taste all the other food that had been cooked in it previously. The ham was cheap processed wafer thin ham and the salad was a few pieces of old soft tomato, some cucumber and loads of lettuce and a tiny bit of dressing. Could have got better in a cafe and not paid £9.50. There was nothing fresh or healthy on the Lunch/bar menu and no specials. Dinner was not much better. They did have one healthy option but his was fish. The fish that was coming out had a very strong ordour so this was not an option. The wine glasses on the table were in need of a polish and the table need a good wipe. The staff were very friendly. All in all this is not a a 4 star hotel. More like 2.
