"Excellent place to stay near to The Albert Hall"
Great place to stay if you’re performing at The Albert Hall, or visiting for an event there. We found the rooms comfortable and clean, well cared for each day. We would certainly visit there again. An excellent venue for a group stay, which is what we had.
"Good location, friendly service."
I stayed for one night in a 3rd floor basic room overlooking the front of the hotel. The room was clean, comfortable and had all the usual extras i.e. coffee/tea making facilities, iron, ironing board, safe and a good quantity of wash products. Although the room decor was quite tired it wasn't expensive and served its purpose well. The staff were very helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was excellent with a good selection and coffee was served immediately and finished with plates etc. removed from the table promptly. I think generally the exterior of the building could do with a facelift, but nevertheless I would recommend this hotel as it general overall facilities and great staff make it an excellent place to stay.
"A bit old, still above the average in London"
This probably was once a five star hotel, but now it's getting old and it needs some refurbishment. Nothing serious but you can tell his days are gone now. Still, it keeps it;s good location, good size rooms and a nice atmosphere. 15 minutes walk to the metro. Good option if you drive from Heathrow. Large parking, 25 pounds per day. Not very close to transportation or sights.
"Noisy club room and other issues - disappointing"
Booked standard room 8 months ahead to see a concert at RAH. Walking distance to the venue - taxi rank outside. Dated building with no charm - be aware this hotel backs onto the tube line so some rooms can be very noisy. Amazing view of the London sky- line from the upper rooms. We arrived at 5.30 pm to find that the room wasn't available - which was disappointing as we knew we had to get to RAH as early as possible due to increased security checks. The receptionist offered an upgrade to a club room but we still had to wait until gone 6pm for the upgraded room to become available which was not ideal. We agreed to the upgrade and a drinks voucher was offered. The club room was ok but not amazing, not entirely sure why it was defined as club tbh - just seemed like a standard room in my experience. The difficulties started on our return to the room after our concert - the fridge was incredibly noisy and in a cupboard which actually seemed to act to amplify the noise ( no way to turn off). The other issue was the connecting dour which had a huge gap around it which in effect meant we could hear every word from next door. The gap was so big, you could see light shining through, there should be a door from both sides or at least some insulating door seal. Poor sleep quality achieved. Lots of coach parties booked and was fully booked when we stayed. Very strange arrangements to get a lift. Two members of staff controlling the queue and even then people were pushing in. Breakfast was well cooked and there was a big choice from the buffet. I would not stay here again, there are better hotels nearer to the RAH.
"As always.....great to be back !"
Having just come from 2 different hotels in Scotland, it was such a relief and absolute pleasure to return to the Tara....I felt "at home" as soon as I walked through the doors and was greeted with "welcome back" by the doorman. Despite all new faces at reception after only 3 months, it was refreshing to be greeted by staff who smiled....makes such a difference after a long train or plane ride ! I never feel the need to eat elsewhere when at the Tara, not just because the food is good, but because the staff in the restaurant are irreplaceable. Despite access to the Club Lounge for breakfast, I wouldn't dream of not being served by the delightful Maria in the main restaurant. She makes every guest feel special and over the years I have overheard many guests asking to be seated in her section. In the evenings, John is efficient and most welcoming and of course, there is no Club Lounge host like Liam anywhere...a true gem ! Thank you to the management and staff for another wonderful stay--I look forward to returning soon.
