"Less than Avg"
Do not recommend for leisure traveling. I stayed here with my family on a whim (booked night before arrival). Normally I take more time reading reviews, researching multiple hotel options and wish I had. Hotel reminded me of a large motel (enter your room from outside which makes me nervous from a safety standpoint, especially with a 5 yr old at night in an unfamiliar area). It was difficult to find my room upon arrival with luggage. Multiple outside entrances/elevators so hard to know which is closest to your room#. Entire facility was dark and outdated. Reminded me of 1970's. Passes for free breakfast were meant for drinks and we were questioned about them by our waitress even though we asked if they were valid before we were seated. The waitress was nice and took them but where is the standardization' Parking was not desirable either. Dark parking lot, spaces very tight and you need your room key to get in/out - something we weren't told. I checked in hours before my husband came with the car and he had to get out of the car to the receptionist to get a 3td card in order not to have to run up to the room. After checking out, we didn't realize you need the room key to get out of the parking lot. We intentionally left the keys in the room. Thank goodness the car behind us used his key to lift the gate or we would have had to go inside the hotel again. Room service is expensive - over $20 for 1 chicken sandwich. Pros - staff was nice and shuttle picked us up from Sea World, they also held our luggage until time to check in. Overall, wasn't worth the price of staying there. Wish we had stayed across the street for half the price or outside of San Diego.
"old, smells like smoke, dirty"
We arrived late at night hoping for a clean place to rest our heads. The room was dirty. The hotel reeked of smoke and we began coughing immediately. The furniture was dusty and the carpet weathered. This place is so old and outdated. For the price, go somewhere cleaner and safer.
Quiet nice for chicken teriyaki , on the third floor at Norton Plaza, San Diego,California. It's easy to reach,, you can go by feet about half mile and 5minutea drive. Many kinds that youncan find such as perfumes, clothes, foods and many more
"Nice hotel and a great place for a High School Runion."
My husband and I came to San Diego to attend my 50th High School Reunion. We were able to get a discount on the room rate because of the reunion. I also got a discount on the parking rate. I was surprised there was a charge for parking so I was happy to get the discount. The room was very nice and clean. That is always a concern when we travel. The first night my hubby ordered a Dewars White Label double and was surprised at the price--$22!! I knew prices were going to be higher in California but this was double what we pay in Pa. The second evening we were in a very nice and big banquet room. Plenty of room to wander around and a nice big dance floor. The food was top quality. I did receive a text message the first night asking if I was enjoying our room and it was addressed to Mr. I messaged back that I was enjoying our room and this was MRS. When I was checking out, I mentioned that someone needs to do something about the tub. It was very slippy so we put a towel down while showering so we wouldn't fall. All in all our stay was very nice but a lot of walking from our room to go anywhere.
"Super Family Friendly"
Used my IHG points for a family/wedding weekend away. Got early check in and was greeted by the same font desk person that I spoke with on the phone. GREAT SERVICE. The room was large and clean. The grounds were clean and the tropical vibe was fun for my kids to, "explore". Had a family breakfast and really appreciated the service and quality of the breakfast buffet. This hotel has earned my repeat business.
