"Good Rosebank Location"
I attended a 2 day conference here. Conference facilities fine but room better suited for functions. Conference bathroom facilities inadequate for the number of delegates. Good parking. Staff friendly & helpful. Bedrooms very small.
"Week-long business stay Feb2018"
This is my 4th trip to South Africa. On all my other trips I have stayed in Sandton while typically doing business at locations in Randburg or Ormonde. This time I wanted to give this location a try due to its proximity to the Gautrain Rosebank station and the Rosebank Mall. My IHG platinum status was recognized and they gave me a top floor room in the north tower. For the most part, I was happy with the layout. Unique to this location was that the shower used tinted glass as the walls making the room feel dramatically larger. The only issues I had was that the mattress was way too firm and that the hot water device leaked(this was replaced by room service at my request on the first day). The hotel breakfast was included in my room rate. They open most week days at 0630, but I kind of wished it was 0600. The food was similar to the quality I have found in other hotels. The fitness center was larger than the last hotel I stayed at and had a much better than average selection of equipment. I gave the pool a try. It is not heated so my visit turned into a cold water spa therapy. I also used the business center during my stay to print some documents. 16x3page docs cost about 96R. I was pretty happy with this as I don't like to carry such content in my luggage.
"Very good needs work"
I found the booking experience a hassle. Booked through a travel agent and their refrence didnt work on the hotel website. Hotel doesnt take uk credit cards so had to do bank transfer to upgrade. Exterior of hotel spoiled by roadworks on pavement and general shabiness of area. Check in was great. Had breakfast which i paid for. Great selection but as it was end of the breakfast session most of the precooked food was cold. No offers made to warm it. No food tempertature checks were carried out. The table we sat at was wobbly. Our Junior suite in the South Tower was vastConsisted of large bedroom with lounge and bathroom which was quite small. Unable to share the shower withmy partner. Roomtemperature was dificult tocontrol as the aircon took ages to warm the room. My partner woke up with a headcold and I woke. up in the night sweating as it was too warm. Bed was huge but the pilows too fluffy for me. Duvet wasn,t terribly warm. On two occassions when I was out the roomwas serviced and because the door didnt automatically shut and room staff didnt check the door, my roomwas left open. I reported this on check out. I was told because I was an IHG member I was entitled to a 2pm check out which I said I would like. Howvery I got a call when asleep at 11.45am to inform me my check out had been extended and that my key card would no longer work, Didnt use the poolas the weatherwas cool and I spent 24 hours sleeping. I found the didning staff iver attentive which I found a bit claustrophobic. My plate was whisked away as soon as I had finished eating. The lady chef who fries eggs needs to smile more and interact with clientele. Lovely Nelly at reception so helpful and the door man knew my name.Good touch. Thank you Adri and housekeeping. staff for looking after my phone that I left behind. The Hotel is 500 metres from a Virgin Active Gym and the vast Rosebank Mall. Very popular with Chinese visitors by the ammoht I saw there also there is a seperate dining area for aircrew.Not sure why. Hotel very clean and well kept. Decor up to date.Deaerves 4 stars could get 5 wirh a bit of work. Please modernise the room aircon. Will stay there again. Possinly I will. sample the gym and pool next time..Great prices. Thank you
"Very poor sense of service"
I stayed a week at the hotel. My TV was not working, every night when coming back from the office I had to reactivate my card to enter my room. These things can happen and my colleagues and I never complained. On the 2nd day, I used the iron that was full of rust on my light pink skirt... it was ruined ! I went and complain, they said that that would take care of it. Twice they forgot to come. And the day before leaving, I find a note saying that I had to give proof of purchase ! The manager even came and said I had burnt my skirt so they would do nothing. Never seen such a bad service and talking to customer... especially for a reception. Fortunately the people working on the breakfast lobby were extremely nice and helpful.
"Good and safe place"
Stylish hotel in Rosebank district of Jo'burg. Huge lobby, very modern. Room was standard with quite small bathroom. Breakfast with not too much variety. Staff very politely. Gym and pool area available. 300m far from the hotel are some shopping malls and very good restaurants.
