"A little trip to London "
I love this hotel, it's about my 8th time here and i just love it. My only gripe is that I hate lifts and their stairs are emergency exits only!!! The rooms are fresh, clean and luxury. I am part of the IHG rewards club so tend to get an upgrade. Nice friendly helpful staff, breakfast is amazing, lovely food and the chef will cook you things like an omelette on demand. I'm defo going back here, so handy for the O2 arena, Canary Wharf, London city airport and the Excel centre.
"Close to O2"
We booked this hotel due to is proximity to the O2 Arena and City Airport. You can get the Emirates Skyline from opposite the hotel, directly to the Arena. The check-in and bar staff were very friendly and the hotel room was clean and comfortable. However, breakfast was a shambles, with too few staff and poor service. We were offered a refund and the second morning there was a bit of improvement. We also tried to order room service but were told the oven was broken, so no room service was available.
"Nice hotel - terrible service"
Hotel was quite out of the way from anything but thought it would be ok for the weekend. Upon arriving at the hotel they put a hold on my card for the 2 nights stay plus an extra £50 which they said would be returned upon check out. Stayed the first night but was awoken at 9am from the room cleaner banging the door for 'room service'. Asked her to come back later which she said she would. Upon going for a shower we found there was no water to shower or brush or teeth or fill the kettle for drinks. Phoned reception who advised they would check and call back. Called back 10mins later and they said there was a water problem which would be resolved in 30-45mins. Another 10mins later we were called again to be advised it wouldnt be 30-45mins and could be late afternoon and asked if we wanted bottled water for a wash!' We asked if we would be charged the full 2 nights if we cancelled the 2nd night to go and find somewhere else as we had a wedding to be at later that day and needed showers. They said they would allow us to cancel due to not being able to confirm when they would have water again! We checked out and the receptionist took my card again and charged me a further £159 for the 1 night stay...I advised that they had already held the full 2 nights plus a further deposit so just needed to return any excess. They advised they needed to take the 1 night again and the rest would be released immediately. I hadnt received anything 'released back' 2 days later so called again and was advised it can 'take a few days' even though I was originally advised it would be straight away. 5 days later and they still have the full 2 nights stay and the extra £159 and having called again and spoke to a 'manager' who really had no interest I have been told its now my banks fault and not theirs. So still awaiting my 'held payment'. Never had this from any other hotel ever and would never stay here again.
Excellent location...room very comfortable and clean. We had to ask for bathrobes(it was stated they were included in the room). We had a two night stay but our robes had been removed when the room was serviced! I thought it strange but the desk was very obliging in replacing them. The restaurant manager at breakfast was so lovely and friendly, she was the icing on the cake! A very pleasant weekend break.
"Really nice stay, but..."
Stayed at the Crown plaza docklands last weekend for 1 night on a Friday. Check in was quite quick and reception took 50 deposit for incidentals no problem. Room was lovely and big with a nice birthday treat waiting from the hotel. Pool and spa area was OK, needed a little updating but OK for a city hotel. At night was woken around 12/1 with noise/partying from overhead, complained at reception in the morning and was greeted with mild apologies, did not really feel listened to. Breakfast was lovely with myself and daughter feeling really looked after, especially manager of breakfast, can't remember name sorry. Checked out no issues, unfortunately then looked at bank statement few days later and £40 had been debited from my account additional to the price of the stay''. Not sure if this was a fraudulent act/transaction'' Please beware. Called the hotel who gave me managers e mail address, still awaiting response. Its a real shame that this has happened as it has spoil the stay and I won't be staying at any Crown plaza again in the future. The Hilton group can gave my money from now on.
