"Wonderful ! "
I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. We took the upgrade for the club room and it is well worth the extra money. Carlos the chef makes amazing omelettes and the views from the top floors are fantastic. As others mentioned the decor is not modern however I found the old world charm of the hotel added to the ambience.
"Nice walking area, friendly and helpful staff, clean."
We stayed here for two nights in May and really appreciated the hotel's location. It was within walking distance of a really nice eating area/street called Lastarria. The central park is great for running and you can walk to the zoo and funicular. I've been in South America a good bit and would say Santiago is by far one of the nicest walking cities you'll find. The fact that this hotel is in such a good walking location and it's such a clean and nice hotel makes it a great stop.
"Three days in Santiago...."
I booked three nights at the Crowne Santiago as part of a wider trip around South America. Throughout my stay the front desk and front of house staff were excellent: a very good standard of spoken English, polite, attentive and engaging. The hotel is well maintained but looks a little tired/faded in places. The wifi worked well with good download and upload speeds. I had a room on the 20th floor, which was spacious and clean. There is also a large gym - I was the only guest on all three of my visits. The Executive Lounge has a decent breakfast, with a good selection of alcoholic drinks and snacks in the evening. The hotel is also in a very good location - short walking distance to a metro station and a number of Santiago attractions. It's a little too cold in Santiago to use the pool in my opinion, but the pool area is a nice space. Why isn't this a five star review' A few issues: the safe in my room was already locked when I arrived; my key card had to be reprogrammed several times during my stay (I appreciate I may have put it near my cell phone, but I've never had such a recurring issue at other hotels); keycard readers in elevators were unresponsive - other guests were struggling; sauna was quite cold (on the CW's own board it states it should be 70C-100C: it was below 60C on my two visits); the entire ironing board holder came out of the wall when I tried to use it; I asked for some further toiletries in my room and a box of tissues and toilet roll were provided. Overview, these are minor issues but did detract a little from the experience. At the right price, I would certainly suggest the Crowne Plaza Santiago.
I stayed at this property for business purposes. The hotel is located on a busy street, and is close to a district with several nice restaurants. I was welcomed by a warm staff, with an easy check-in. The room was well maintained and clean, what one would expect from a Crowne Plaza. The fitness facility was also great, and I had a nice workout. On the ground floor, they also have a nice bar, and I was treated with live music while sipping a glass of scotch.
"Great location, great service. "
With the expansion of the IHG family the Crowne Plaza brand seems to be moving down market. The rates at this hotel were quite a bit cheaper than other chain hotels in Vitacura and Las Condes. I give this hotel a "very good" rating because it has all the features ans amenities and great service. However, it is in a bad need of update! Location: my business took me to the old Santiago Centro, so this hotel was great location-wise. However, should you be doing business in Las Condes, this is about 20 min taxi ride. Check-in: There was a mix up with my reservation, most probably due to my own mistake at booking. The front desk staff who was checking me in, quickly spoke with reservations department and offered me what I needed - standard room with breakfast. Within 2 hours of that I got a phone call from front desk supervisor offering me an apology for the mix up and an upgrade to an executive room. Though mistake was likely mine, the staff took care to ensure that within their available tools they were able to make me feel valued. Bravo! Service in general: I didn't have any problems during my stay and didn't need anything special or complicated. However, all interactions with service staff, from waiter's to concierge and doormen were pleasant and efficient. As I said above, it is the service that pulls this hotel to this rating in my mind. Rooms: I got to experience both the standard room (for 2 hours) and an executive room (for 4 nights). The standard: the size was fine, though I was surprised they only come with two double beds and now 1 queen/king option. The condition of the room was poor: windows were super dirty. Carpet was old and stained and even walls were dirty. Everything was old, wooden furniture chipped. The brown/grey paint on bathroom and closet doors in addition to brown carpet made the room very sombre. The bathroom was the only exception - updated and well laid out. The executive room was much larger by in the same colour scheme. So while there was more light, it was still rather sombre. Cleaner walls and carpets, but largely all the same complaints as the standard room. The bathroom was in poorer condition than that in the standard room. Overall, the hotel has lost a lot of its lustre but given that it has all the elements of a luxury accommodation, a substantial interior renovation can make it an excellent place to stay in Santiago.
