"Good location, nice parking deck on property"
We stayed at this property for the first time Sunday - Tuesday. This hotel is easy to find, it's in a good location for walking to Michigan Avenue/Magnificient MIle. It's a few blocks also to the River bridges. We are Hilton Honors so were given the top floor (26) and a large suite room that looked down over the pool deck area and city towards Hancock Bldg. There are partial city view and tiny spots where Lake Michigan is available but that's about it even from the top floor. There is a nice pool off the 5th floor on roof and it has a very large pool deck area, pool towels are provided.. The main floor restaurant has a decent breakfast, not as good as some Hilton properties. A plus about this downtown Chicago hotel that makes it stand out from others is that you can have in/out privileges in the connected indoor parking garage. It's very easy to access from inside the hotel and it's nice to be able to park your own car during stay. (Rather than a valet driver driving your vehicle to some unknown outdoor lot a few blocks away in the city). The front desk could use a few more workers during peak times. Lines were very long to wait for assistance. There are a number of elevator cars so it wasn't inconvenient being on the top floor. There's a nice Einstein Bagel shop off the lobby of the hotel also. The half circle drive in front of the hotel does make it a bit easier for unloading and checking in at registration desk (as opposed to leaving your vehicle in the busy city street). Our suite was nice but NO small refrigerator!' Also, we had many windows and while they did have curtains they weren't good. The curtains aren't long enough so much light comes in at sunrise making the room too bright to sleep. Also, our suite had a connecting room on both sides of it - but we weren't using them, other guests were. We could hear the TV late at night and the gentlemen guest in the next room coughing and talking way past midnight so it was hard to fall asleep.
Location was very convenient, room was very, very comfortable, breakfast on the premises was delicious BUT very expensive $30 dollars for breakfast for two seniors is a bit much. One more thing...closet was very tiny and the rod was so low my gown and my husbands suit pant trailed on the floor!!! They must correct this1!
"Quick Weekend Trip"
Nice hotel that is located in downtown Chicago. Staff was very friendly and the room was comfy and nice. Surprisingly, there is no refrigerator or microwave in the room. We was told we could get one for an extra fee. We did get the refrigerator and it was brought up to our room almost immediately. Next time I will pay better attention to room details while booking. There is a nice rooftop pool and bar that we enjoyed. The area is kept very clean area and the cocktails were delicious!
"Adequate if looking just for a place to sleep"
Basically an average hotel in a decent location. I stayed here 2 nights while in town for a nearby conference. Easy walking distance to Magnificent Mile, River Walk, and Navy Pier. The other side of Michigan Avenue has more to offer in terms of restaurants and nightlife, but still able to walk to those areas from this hotel. The rooms could use so touching up. Wall paper was cracking and the décor seemed dated. I had a corner room which offered a nice view of Ohio Ave and was on the 23rd floor (of 26 floors) so the street noise was at a minimum outside of the occasional siren. The room itself was average size, not sure if the corner rooms are larger, if so, then the other rooms would probably be on the small size. Bathroom was very small and didn't have an exhaust fan so after a quick shower, the mirror would easily fog up even with the door open. Towels were a nice quality and didn't have stains as you sometimes find in hotels. Nice outdoor pool on the 5th floor. Several loungers and a few tables away from the pool to have a drink or bite to eat. It was unusually hot when I was there and not all of the tables had an umbrella so we weren't able to stay outside for very long in the direct sun. A drink cart was stationed at the pool offering a small/decent selection of beers, cocktails and food options. Staff at the pool and front desk were friendly. I was fortunate enough to be able to check-in at 10:30 AM (while I wouldn't expect to be so lucky again), it allowed me to freshen up rather than just storing my bags and heading out to the city while waiting for my room. No complaints for this property. If you keep your expectations in check, and are looking for a centrally located area within the tourist area, this is an option. Reasonably priced for a hotel in this area. I would probably stay somewhere else if given the choice, but I wouldn't hesitate to return if needed.
We stayed at the hotel while our volleyball team attended the ASICS Jr National tournament (6/16-18/17). This hotel was a perfect location for walking to the Navy Pier and other activities. ToniAnn helped us with our group reservation.
