"Cool hotel, good size rooms"
I enjoyed staying here, the room was a great size with a huge bath and interesting decor. The location is a pretty good base for exploring Hamburg although some parts of St Pauli are a bit rough if you take a wrong turn :) The bar/restaurant was very nice (although I only had the continental breakfast).
"It still has IT!"
Haven't been back to east i Hamburg for 8 years and was worried that it would be run down or not as nice as I remembered. But it is still a nice design hotel with a great sushi restaurant and a nice bar. Fun people to look at as well. The rooms are big and comfortable and the wifi is free and fairly fast.
"a real design hotel with little disadvantages"
The East Hotel is really a beautiful hotel, fully designed and very nice to stay in. The reception was nice and friendly, though they did not were really helpful for the things you can do in the hotel. But, you have a great room, with very comfortable boxspring-beds, a great TV, even with Sky programs, bathrobe for the sauna, absolutely gorgeous shower. Separate toilet. The breakfast was the best of our stay. The choice of probably 100 things to eat from gave you the problem of either overeating or not to know exactly what to take. Simply great breakfast. Though, and this brings me to the minus points for the hotel: and most probably it is normal on weekends, never take a room towards the patio. The music is loud, all these smokers coming to the patio to smoke might lead to the fact that smoke enters through your open window, and they leave all the time the doors open, so you hear what's happening in the bar. Not really nice. Second thing that was annoying was the extremely high number of smaller children that were running around the hallway, the breakfast room and almost everywhere. And quite noisy. We know that children are this way, so the parents should take care of having then behave in a certain manner, but also the hotel - being near the Reeperbahn, the party street of Hamburg - should clearly state that it is an adults only hotel, and that if children are with the parents they should not run around. And a little negative gimmick: we ordered a tea into our room. First the tea was not hot anymore, second the glass was broken, and third they asked besides of the 5 Euros for the tea also 5 Euros for room service. Not even Hyatt does this.
"Super cool design hotel, exciting interior, extraordinary breakfast, good beds"
Checked in evening, friendly english speaking staff at the reception, Parking in the basement. I had great (a but expensive) dinner in the beautiful restaurant. My room was very big with a double bed in the middle of the room facing the big windows to the backside of the hotel, local recidential houses across the garden. All furniture are designed and quiet unusal appearance, but very interesting. Great bed, super linen. The breakfast I took early, first in the restaurant. It is probably the best hotel-breakfast I have ever seen. I cannot describe it, but don't miss it. I will go back, both for dinner, and for another stay. Great place
"loved the decor of this hotel - something very different. WOW factor"
Loved the room. It had a waterbed and a huge bath in the bedroom. The different bars were cool in the hotel and nice to chill in and have a glass of wine. The decor throughout was well executed and it had a nice vibe. The staff were friendly and helpful. Good location, close to the Reeperbahn (which is tacky as hell) The only negative I have is the restaurant menu. Not enough of a selection and very overpriced.
