"my first review- on trip adviser"
I arrived to NYC early Sunday night- it was a stopover so I had 4 pieces of luggage.. it was very hard to find the hotel no signage-when the cab driver finally found the hotel, it was a mad house out there, cars double and triple park, bike lane (I nearly got ran down) and no staff in the front to the hotel to assist guests upon arrival and departure, I was left on 6th ave in the middle of the street with 4 bags and no assistance. when I finally got all my stuff in the lobby...still no help! Check in was easy, hotel lobby feels more like a club for the 80's only thing missing was a mirror ball. room was nice, needs some updating, but clean! The entire hotel needs updating!! I had to catch a 7:00pm flight monday so I stored my luggage, left the hotel around 3:30, still nobody outside to assist with a cab a luggage. I choose Kimpton hotels when I travel because of the service they provide.... This is the first time I stayed in the Eventi, service was not bad, just absent. For the price they charge I do expect service- I would not return
"Another Kimpton Winner!"
I have come to really love Kimpton Hotels and I try and stay in them as often as possible. The Eventi lived up to my expectations in every way. It was my first time to this location but it won't be my last. The staff was friendly, attentive and accommodating. The room was spacious, clean and well-appointed. Unfortunately, I was only there for one night and had to check out very early in the morning but I will definitely be back next time I'm in NYC.
"VERY GOOD WITH DRAWBACKS"
I stayed at the Kimpton Eventi on Friday & Saturday night 10/11 NOV 2017. It was a last minute booking over Veterans Day and it simply was the best deal by far for what I needed. I actually wanted to stay in a boutique hotel in Chelsea, but this was the closest for the price & standard I could find. I arrived in a lobby that frankly looked like a train station full of people. I expected a long check in process but it was seamless and Jason was great - prompt yet informative. My room was large, modern & clean with a view of the Empire State Building. The bathroom is huge. I had a good work space. Over all the room was better & larger than most in this category of hotels in NY and for what I paid. It lacked tea/coffee making facilities which was a bit annoying, but there is free coffee in the lobby. I ran into a cleaning ladies once or twice and they were extremely chatty & friendly, which seems like something small - but friendly/happy staff reflects well on the hotel. They have a happy hour on the 3rd floor with free wine which is lovely. Free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel etc all great. The drawbacks to watch out for : ask for a room away from 6th Ave (so basically no Empire State view) as the traffic noise & construction on other buildings are relentless and 24 hours - even with all windows closed - and the highest floor you can afford. Despite my request for a quiet room I ended up with an inter-leading room (voices and tv heard clearly) and next to the linen room (which frankly didn't bother me too much). Obviously room service, drinks etc are crazy expensive - this is Manhattan after all - but there is a 24 hr supermarker across the road (just don't get run over on 6th). I feel like my 3 star rating is perhaps a bit unfair and it really should be 4 stars - just that I wanted/expected a quiet boutique hotel in Chelsea - which this definitely is not. It feels more like a Times Square/Midtown type hotel. I've stayed at Kimpton in Pittsburgh which felt much more exclusive, but alas a very good hotel chain. Hope my comments are fair and helpful to other guests.
Our check in experience was a little odd as we had real trouble understanding what the receptionist was actually saying to us. Anyway, the room and shower facilities were well appointed and once we'd had a bit of a wrestle with the air conditioning, it was comfortable too. One big plus for us was the complimentary drinks hours at about 5pm - with a decent 'heavy pour' too.
"Home away from home"
We spent 13 nights at the Kimpton Eventi and highly recommend it. The staff are friendly and go above and beyond to ensure you enjoy your stay. The hotel is in a great location with MSG & Macy's a short walk. The rooms are clean, modern and spacious (we traveled with 5 suitcases and a set of golf clubs and still had plenty of space in our room!). Lots of deli's close by, a starbucks a block away and a new Nordstrom Rack has opened on the next block. The restaurants at the hotel are fabulous - beautiful fresh produce and a great menu. This was first visit to the Kimpton Eventi (our regular hotel had closed) but we wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else now. We've found our home away from home! Can't wait to go back.
