"Nice but older hotel!"
Great location and beautiful, private beach. the Lobby is old and smells musky. The food is way over-priced for Mexico and there is a 20 pesos service to bring the food to the pool area or beach. The check in process went smoothly and even though we arrived at 10 am they checked us into a poolside room with a partial view of the ocean. There was blood on the shower curtain and we called and they came and cleaned it right away but why wasn't it cleaned in the first place' It was the first thing we saw in the bathroom. Due to this mishap they upgraded us to an ocean view room on the 11th floor with a wall to ceiling view. It was really nice. The rooms are good and spacious nothing special. The beach was beautiful and private but the resort itself was boring. No activities, nothing fun so we left and ventured out for fun. The staff was accommodating but not friendly at all and it often seemed as if we were being watched all the time. Not a good feeling while on vacation so back off security and stop being so conspicuous. The Spa is the best thing about the hotel - it is amazing. I loved the location and that's why I selected this hotel but I will not be back. Heading to the RIU or Dreams up the street with an ALL Inclusive option and activities galore. There is also an $25 per day resort fee for in-room water & wifi.
"Read child restrictions carefully"
We were preparing to visit Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach Cancun. Hadn't been there in a few years. We even booked the Jr. Double Suite Grand Club. Well, our children are now 15 and 18 yrs old. They are now considered adults by the hotel. Room restrictions state there is a maximum occupancy of 4 people per room. This can be 2 adults and 2 children under 12 years old, or 3 adults and a child under 12 years old. Unfortunately, we meet the occupancy requirement, however both my kids are older that 12. We were told we would need to book 2 rooms. Just don't want anyone to be surprised upon arrival. Best Regards.
"Wife's had a 33 hour layover"
My wife had a 33 hour layovers in Cancun with her Airline job. The hotel was excellent in a very good location. The room was clean well maintained. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I look forward to returning in the future.
"We'd never stay any place else!"
So tired of trying other places only to be disappointed and frustrated by the misrepresentation of their photos. This hotel always delivers - the staff is well trained and professional without being stuffy. The hotel is so well maintained and they always bring in new décor and extras that give the lobby and open areas extra class.
"Outstanding Resort with Exceptional service!"
Booked a week here based on tripadvisor reviews, everyone was right!! Visited in June with family after school got out. Hotel is spectacular but takes extra time from Airport to get to because it is all the way out on the very tip of Kulkucan Blvd. The hotel is huge and beautiful and clean and impressive. Definitely a 5-star entry with spa music playing in the lobby. Check in was easy and thorough. We were first met by Concierge that sat us down and reviewed the resort for 15 minutes. Never seen that before. Booked two rooms with teenage kids with us. We were not able to secure adjoining rooms until we got here but they were able to move us to higher floor to accommodate us with the two ocean view Junior Suites that we reserved. The rooms were huge and spotless clean with beautiful travertine tile floors and closets and huge bathrooms. Recently renovated and modern. One had private balcony, the other had adjoining balcony (not private) but both had spectacular views of beach overlooking pool. No complaints whatsoever with rooms. Very reasonably priced for size and amenities. The pools were all spotless clean and went on forever. Three huge pools with splash pads and fountains that connect with waterfalls. All the staff were super friendly and helpful and always cleaning. Always asking you if you need something. Never felt neglected except while on the beach itself. Hard to get a drink and food but the staff was scrambling doing what they could. Hotel is not all-inclusive. Be prepared to pay a lot at restaurants even in dollars. A sandwich and fries was about 18/person but it is excellent food. Much much better than what you would get at an all-inclusive so in my opinion somewhat worth the price but still expensive. Drinks were stout with liquor. We ate at the main restaurant which had one of the best breakfast buffets I have ever had. Very high end and fabulous. Buy the breakfast buffet with room-everyday you plan to stay at hotel. We ate at Bikini Grill where I had the best fish sandwich I have ever had and the wife and I splurged at La Bastile which they tout as a AAA 5-Diamond restaurant. I have to say I was a bit disappointed with the meal. It did not blow me away but we have also eaten at 4 and 5 star Michelin restaurants with some celebrity chefs so our standards are probably a bit high. Wine selection was very cheap 6 buck US grocery store wine at very high prices. Need to up their game with a real Sommelier and world class wine selection for that quality of meal. Not quite worth the price and hype, in my opinion. Service however was excellent the whole meal. Maybe my one disappointment was that there is cheap touristy night life and cheap bars and clubs and tourist junk stores everywhere right across the street from the resort. A couple decent restaurants but to me it was very junky and not sophisticated to match the quality of the resorts and a little sketchy for family to shop. The good shopping and restaurants at La Isla is 2 miles away and little too far to walk. Very premium brands that are the very top shelf. Easy taxi ride for ten bucks US. One exception was this super high-end grocery store across the street that had everything!!! Private resort Beach has stunning white soft sand and turquoise water and very clean with breakers that calm the waves. Not much fish, but still gorgeous to view. Plenty of chairs and cabanas. Never had to fight for spot. Only complaint is that the watersports salesmen were like vultures and will not leave you alone!! They need to stop that. Other than that, I can honestly say it was a five star resort experience. Would go back again and again.
