Just returned from Finest and loved it. I have been to many resorts in Cancun and Playa del Carmen and this one was the best! Its in an area called Playa Mujeres about 40 minutes from Cancun airport. Arranged for a private driver from airport for 4 of us and trip was smooth. The resort is spread out and divided into 6 buildings. We had a jr suite with our own plunge pool on grass area, huge patio with loungers and sun bed.Slept us and 2 toddlers easily, rooms are large and modern. The food was plentiful many choices of restaurants no reservations required. Nice for sit down meals, not a buffet line.Bars and pools all over, beach was white sand and uncrowded. Had activities for all ages including bands, theme nights, stargazing, water parks for kids, beach dinners etc.Cannot be bored there, service was superior. Do not hesitate to book here!
"A week in Paradise"
Just back from an amazing week at the Finest Playa Mujeres, we booked with Blue bay travel and had a free upgrade to a junior suite with roof terrace which was breath taking. The staff were friendly and very helpful, plenty of choice of food although the Italian restaurant was disappointing but plenty of other very good alternatives. Adult only sections were brilliant although the adult only section of the pool was more like an 18 - 30 club!!The beach was beautiful and beach beds were fab. Only let down was when we checked out, we were told on check in that as we were in the finest club check out was 2pm and we would have to check on day of departure for late check out. Our room was not available but we were told that if we left at 11am we could have an alternative room. But when we went to check out they told us there was only one room available to share with others or we could use the gym facilities! as we were leaving at 4 I said we'd keep our room until 2pm but was told it was not available and we had to get out by 12 because someone else had the room! At 12 they automatically deactivate room cards so u cannot get access to any of the areas. Eventually after a little arguing we were given an alternative room but it did dampen our holiday experience and I felt like their attitude was we've had your custom now that's it which was a shame as up until then the holiday had been amazing
"Loved the boutique feel! "
Amazing service! Loved my stay here, great service for families and adults with out that mega resort feel! Plenty for kids with the kids clubs and water sports, but lots of adults only areas too. Dinner was great each night, waiters went above and beyond. Loved the Bollywood theme night! So fun and vibrant!
"Great if you don't have much to compare it to"
First, I must point out that when we arrived, there was a price discrepancy. We tried to resolve the issue with a manager, since they typically have authority to make decisions that would make the clientele happy. However, the manager said he could do nothing about the price because the price was based on some daily rate stated somewhere and added that they were at full capacity. I thought it sounded like the equivalent of a mortgage broker telling me that rates are based on prime. Stating that they were at full capacity was an outright lie (when the restaurants and pool loungers are empty and only one bartender is at the swim-up bar, you are not full). Basically, the Finest has a manager that has responsibility but no authority and trained to lie. This is not a good situation when you are in a foreign country, in the outskirts of the city with no transportation or alternative housing, and you cannot get access to the person with authority. This was certainly not a good start and we did feel somewhat bad until we experienced the food. This was probably the best food I have ever eaten at any all-inclusive. The selection of raw fish was especially impressive. When friends ask me how the vacation was, I find I keep talking about the food. The drinks at all the bars were also good. The gym was spacious and had a great selection of steppers, ellipticals, treadmills, rowers, and Life Fitness weight machines. There was a punching bag, kettle bells, free weights and the foam roller on-site was a great addition. The Finest marketed itself as a family place, however, it’s ironic that some reviewers mentioned that there were too many children in such a small space. We found that compared to other “family” resorts, the Finest will allow you to bring your kids, but they do not have activity coordinators to plan family activities. We felt like we needed to place our child in the kids club to see any kids. Related, the bike ride was adults only and started at 8:50am, but yet the kids club didn’t open until 9am. That is just one example of how they didn’t get some of the details right. Contrary to another reviewer, we didn’t see enough children. The blow-up-ocean-activity set that is featured on the web page was blown up but never placed in the water while we were there. The water slides featured on the webpage are only accessible through the kids club, from 9 to 5. You can enter with your child but adults are not allowed on the slides. There are only six loungers in the area, which does not make it very welcoming. The hotel map did not match the stated location of activities. For example, the light show was supposed to be at the plaza but it was at the beach. There was an entire white party at the beach that was not announced. I felt bad for the staff who worked so hard to prepare it only to have it poorly attended. Pools were not labeled. Activities were blah, maybe a little too relaxing. Overall I think this resort suffers from lack of identity. The feel is clean but also sterile. There was constant spa music coming from speakers hidden in big plastic rocks. This resort could have been lifted and placed anywhere in the world and it would have felt the same. No culture. If you don’t have kids and enjoy quiet and relaxation, then this might be a good fit. If you have any allergies to perfume or scents, then count this one out. There is a very strong smell of perfume in the lobby and many common areas. I think they do this to hide the smell of mold. This place was wheelchair accessible, but while we were there, only one elevator was working and then the other elevator was out of service for about half the day. Perhaps the most memorable moment was when we ate at the steak house. Our waiter (Isabelino) told me that I should choose the flank steak over the t-bone that I wanted because the flank steak was more tender for a woman. This is a ridiculous thing to tell a customer and it made me think he was trying to get me to order the cheaper cut. The grand pepper grinder managed to ease my tension after that conversation. Staff were wonderful and attentive.
"The best all inclosive hotel in the world at the price"
I doubt that any hotel in the world could better this hotel at the price. We had upgraded to a two-storey apartment to include a rooftop plunge pool and had also upgraded to the Excellence Club which gave us to premium service, and gave us access to adults only facilities. Staff were excellent and most helpful. Much can be found on the internet so I I will not repeat it here as I am enjoying our 10 days here now. Absolutely no complaints, maybe just a couple of suggestions. The entertainment program is second to none; we have just had the "Jersey Boys" on stage around the pool and they were better than the London cast while we bathed in the perfect pool while we sipped our cocktails. Entertainment at many of the restaurants, always somewhere to eat and drink, dawn to midnight. Parts of the complex are extremely family friendly. Twelve restaurants offering a whole variety of cuisines which all have a strict evening dress code and a no swim gear or topless males during the daytime. We had all inclusive room service available 24hrs. The only three things that we have found are not all inclusive were a very good optional fine wine list but good house wines all-inclusive throughout; the laundry service and a relatively expensive luxury Spa. For UK readers, I suggest Blue Bay Travel, part of Midcounties Coop. which organised everything. Last 10 days of May, premium flights, all upgrades to top service and facilities at £4.6k per couple.
