"Not so Child Friendly"
I booked to stay at Fitzpatricks Castle hotel as it was advertised as a child friendly Hotel and mainly because it had a swimming pool. We took our six year old here for a night away. We were very disappointed when we got to the pool to be told we only had 20mins before we had to leave, as family time was only from 3-5pm. Considering you can't check in until after 3pm it's a bit ridiculous to give such a small window of time. Also at the check in we were not made aware of such time restrictions or we would of went straight to the pool. The lifeguard on duty asked us to leave the pool at 5pm. Morning family swim time is from 10am to 12pm. Realistically we got an hour in before we had to get back to our room to get ourselves ready packed up and checked out for 12. The hotel is in a fabulous location and I found the rooms to be very comfortable but not so welcoming for families unfortunately.
"Clean, Comfortable and Well Appointed"
From check in to check out we enjoyed our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms were clean and comfortable. There are several options for dining if you want to stay in and the lobby bar is fun. There are two options for breakfast in the morning: hot and cold buffet. There were several large functions while we stayed, but they pulled them off without affecting the service of the other guests.
"Pleasantly charming, I will be back"
There is such a variety of hotel options with the area and this one definitely sets the standard I expect. From the moment you sit down in reception to be checked in, to wandering the expansive hotel you are impressed with the level and caliber of service. Many are quite young and it is impressive to find this here. The restaurants and bars on site are all quite remarkable. I tried each one and didn’t find much that needed improvement, certainly not in the Mapas Restaurant. The room is quite nice, I would love be in a room with a view, perhaps next time. All the furniture and amenities you expect. And a real bath and shower, not the standard corner shower. Service of the rooms is excellent, they are clean and well maintained. There is an indoor pool, gym, grounds and trails, and of course fantastic views from nearly everywhere. I hesitate writing reviews like this, when there are no other real options, because it will make my return even more difficult. Congratulations to the management team and the owners. Well done!
stayed again over the weekend with family.. the beds are so so comfy and with both soft and harder pillows. ate in the dungeon bar foid goid.. but for more atmosphere we ate upstairs in main hotel area.. staff very attentive polite..pool are is used by member's and hotel guest so can be busy.. overall a great stay.. i have stayed several times and will do so in the future.
"Fitzpatrick holiday homes...just loved it!"
Stayed here for a week through RCI exchange and boy I would return in a heartbeat. The beautifully decorated, equipped and maintained apartments are in the grounds of the Castle and you can use all the castle facilities. Carol who greeted us was the perfect host. Check in/check out were quick and painless. Location is brilliant- outside Dublin City but easily accessed via Dart or air coach from the airport. It's a lovely walk to Dalkey where you can pick up provisions, have a drink or meal in any of the numerous pubs etc. We really enjoyed the New Years Eve Sunday brunch in the Castle and is a must for any visitors - it was wonderful. Loads to do in the area. Thank you so much for a fabulous week. I can't score you high enough!
