Sehr schönes Hotel - sehr gute Kombination von alten und neuen Elementen - sehr stylisch - extrem freundliches Personal - tolle Aussicht auf Istanbul beim Frühstück auf der Terrasse - sehr gute Betten / BettwäscheComment of W. Fritz, Austria the 2015-03-27
Loved this hotel! Only comment on the bathroom is that the water leaked from the shower which made the floor soaking wet. We stayed in room 17 the first two nights and the isolation was great, moved up to room 21 where the isolation wasn't that great due to the restaurant. All and all we loved to stay at this hotel!Comment of W. Charlotte, Sweden the 2015-03-26
"If you want to stay in Galata and to have excellent service"
There are many hotels and restaurants near Galata which have very panoramic views, this is one of those with better service. In terms of price/quality ratio, it is one of the best places in the area. If you have a car, forget it, it is very clumsy to get in and out, otherwise, try to stay there at least one night, preferably in a room with balcony overlooking Topkapı, you won't be disappointed. It gets high rating from me mostly due to service though.
"Disappointed with Georges Hotel"
We booked for six nights at the Georges in a deluxe Bosphorus view room in mid-October for our first visit to Istanbul. We checked out and moved to another hotel (Vault Karakoy, review is there) and stayed only two nights. We did not have a good experience at the Georges. Most of this was attributable to service issues which presumably could be remedied. There are issues with the property as well though they may or may not bother everyone. If you identify with being a too-cool hipster who doesn't expect much in the way of politeness or service, this place is for you. This is a very small property that is not run by hotel professionals. The staff is limited, basically a check in person after hours with housekeeping available only during the day. Services you might expect to receive are not readily available. The lobby for check in is on the ground floor but isn't really a lobby. More like a bar but without drinks. When we arrived the front desk person was not there. He came fairly quickly but the overall experience of checking in was poor. He was not friendly, didn't return our passports until we asked, and left us to deal with taking our bags up the elevator ourselves. On arriving at the room, we found it to be pretty dirty. The bathroom had dental floss on the counter, there was no soap in the bathroom, the all hardwood floor had hairs and particles on it, and many surfaces were quite dusty. We complained immediately but were told that nothing could be done that evening until housekeeping arrived at 9 in the am. This was after trying to call the front desk about these issues for more than ten minutes. Had to go down to find them. Not good. The room itself did have a good view, but there is no closet or wardrobe in it and no dresser. Almost impossible to unpaid. A small TV is fastened to a pillar at the foot of the bed. The very small bathroom is walled in in glass with blinds for privacy, with no surfaces other than the vanity. Makes for a nice view but not very functional. We had repeated problems with the door lock. Our key never worked once in two days. We had to go to the front desk each time to get someone to unlock the room. We were told the lock would be reset but that never happened. We were met by a well regarded private guide in the lobby the first morning we were there. She told us she had called the day before to leave us a welcome message and arrange meeting. She said she had never been treated as rudely by a hotel as she was by Georges. The location of the hotel is good. It is on a very interesting narrow street filled with boutique stores. Close to Galata tower. Too bad that the hotel itself is not well managed. A final note. We did not have breakfast in the hotel. It does not have its own food service but brings in breakfast to your room if you order it. The price was in the 15-20 Euro range, per person. That's a lot, given the alternatives available. AND there is no place to eat in the room, unless you want to sit on the bed. I failed to mention that there was virtually no furniture in the room bedides the bed, a smallish desk and chair, and one small chair in the corner.
"Stylish hotel is great location. Very good, but could be better"
Was looking for boutique hotel for a romantic weekend in Istanbul. I picked Georges over the many identikit large boxes. I don't regret it. + The hotel rooms are styled with great taste, and well laid out + The hotel location was perfect for a short visit. We were able to walk to all the famous attractions and were surrounded by great places to eat and drink + The email support before we arrived was first class. + The front desk support was excellent for booking restaurants A few things to be aware of: - We only stayed 2 nights. On one of them the roof top bar, a major factor in our choice of hotel, was taken over for a private party and we discovered without warning that we couldn't use it. The hotel has no other facilities (just rooms and a reception, not even a restaurant - breakfast has to be taken in the rooms) and this seemed wrong Especially since the bar floor was our room's ceiling and the party kept banging till 1am. To their credit the hotel did give us a discount when we asked. But I rather have paid and had the use of the facilities. - The room fittings need to be refreshed. An example - they advertise iPod speaker dock, but it turned out to be old model iPhone 5 vintage.
"View like a dream"
I need to say that it was one of the best views I have ever seen. The location is very touristic and smells historical, a good experience to spend time around the Hotel. I had an overall good experience but there are little things I want to mention. Like the water bottles are plastic, I think such a great boutique hotel should have glass bottles for water. The website is very old and not user-friend, I think it doesn't fit this hotel. Some of the furniture has little damages, could be repaired. I definitely would come back.
"You must stay, very trendy Boutique hotel"
I stayed for one night only, the reception area is nice and simple leather sofas.. rooms are exciting very spacious small balcony facing Galata tower, old Victorian windows, walls ceilings beautifully designed, stylish glass bathroom, comfortable king size bed the only thing I didn't find in the room was the room safe. You are one minute away from Galata tower where you find lots of cool small bars, coffee shops & Turkish artist shops and products
