"Great little spot in Georgetown"
This is a nice little hotel with a great staff. It's conveniently located in the middle of Georgetown and a bit on the quaint side. However, it's clean, safe, hospitable, and a nice little spot. It's a little bit of a trek to the Foggy Bottom metro from here, but doable. All Georgetown restaurants and shops are within easy walking distance.
"Fire alarm was not handled well. "
I just stayed at Georgetown Inn over the weekend. The rooms and customer service are fine and met my expectations. What was not fine was how they handled the fire alarm last night at about 2:15am. I was sleeping on a pull out couch in a suite while my parents slept in the bedroom. The fire alarm started going off in the hallway, but there was no fire alarm going off in the room. It was barely audible in the bedroom when I went in there to wake up my parents. If I had not woken them up, they would have never heard the alarm. I went outside, where a lot of guests were. Someone from the staff came down and shut off the alarm and said she was going to “check each floor for fire.” As far as I know, only firefighters are supposed to shut off a large building’s fire alarm. No firefighters ever came. How was the staff supposed to know if there was actually a fire until she checked every single room, which I know for a fact she didn’t' I would never return to this hotel. I do not feel safe there. They need to overhaul their safety procedures. What they are doing may be illegal.
I have been staying at this hotel periodically since I was a student at Georgetown in the 80's. It had really falllen into disrepair, so I was excited to stay there last weekend and see the renovations. The front desk service was still very friendly and helpful. The location is still perfect. The renovations, however, were a total disappointment. The room decor is new, but looks really cheaply done. Paint in the bathroom was patched, not repainted. furniture was already stained, and the bed had no bedframe and headboard. The room was very dirty, with hair on the shower curtain, and a dirty floor. I really want to keep giving this hotel a chance, because I love it, but I think this was my last stay.
"Overbooked, last minute notice"
I have booked this plave a month in advance for a single day work visit in DC specifically for its location. They have, however, called me at 9.00pm on the day of my check in, while I was in the train to DC, that the hotel is overbooked and I cant come. They have moved me to Mariott at Chevy Chase, which is about half an hour drive from DC. So great, thats what you want from a one day stay, long taxi rides. Unacceptable.
"Location...location...location! Does not get any better when visiting your Gtown student!"
Go ahead and cancel your rental car because if you stay here, you don't need it! The bed was sooooooo comfy, the front desk guest experience easy; this is a property that truly values their guests and the guest experience. The Daily Grill room service for a late night bite is the frosting on the cake--literally and figuratively!
