"Very nice hotel"
In a couple words, it was great. Very nice hotel with clean and comfortable rooms. The staff is very friendly. There are several subway stations in a close surrounding. Besides, I liked the district so much, it’s a real New York, you go outside from the hotel and see all these skyscrapers :)
Stayed at the Gild Hall for about 6 nights over New Year. The hotel was lovely and the rooms a lot bigger than others in Manhattan. The lobby area is quite small so when we arrived it was a bit confusing as there was a large group blocking the desk. Once we got around them check in was swift - though no prosecco was offered like other guests have mentioned. During our stay the front desk team suggested some great places for breakfast and were always friendly when we were coming and going. The pub across the road is pretty good, as is Harry’s restaurant. Easy to get around with the subway nearby and attractions like 9/11 are walkable. We ate in Felice one night in the upstairs part and the food was excellent. Their red wine was also delicious. Would stay again but Midtown is probably a bit better for doing the touristy thing.
"An unexpected shower....in bed!"
This is boutique hotel with an updated masculine wood and leather aesthetic. There is a small pleasant lobby and a casual Italian wine bar/restaurant adjacent to the lobby. The front desk during our weekend stay were uniformly friendly and helpful. Our room was a small suite with a nicely furnished living room with a leather sofa coffee table, two side chairs, as well as a desk. There also was a well equipped kitchenette, bar, and a brightly lit bathroom with double vanities in carrara marble. Every thing designed for a pleasant weekend getaway, which is what we were having until we were awakened early Sunday morning, by a forceful shower of hot water on our bed , soaking us, the bedding, and the floor. We called the front desk and maintenance men arrive almost immediately. Within a minute or two, the water stopped spurting, and it was determined that a radiator pipe had burst, presumably because the outside temperature had dropped very low ( it had gone down to approximately 6 degrees). The manager promptly arrived, was very apologetic, and sent us down for a free breakfast while our room was being cleaned up. The breakfast in the hotel restaurant, Felice, was outstanding, with wonderfully attentive service. When we finished our breakfast, we were notified that our room was being switched to the identical type small suite one flight up and that our payment for the first night of our weekend was being refunded. So while our shower in bed was unexpected, everything turned out well in the end. We were not scalded and the hotel staff went out of their way to try to make up sure that we enjoyed our stay despite the mishap, which we definitely did! Gild Hall is a great place to stay.
Front desk greeting was professional. I booked a king size room and was disappointed in the size of the room, as well as the bathroom. There as little space for hanging clothes and limited space in the bathroom for personal items.
"Amazing Wedding Weekend"
We booked the Gild for our wedding and everyone including family and friends raved about the level of service, decor and location. The staff was so unbelievably kind, attentive and considerate to our entire party. I cannot recommend them enough.
