"Boutique hotel located on a cute street in Fidi with character and an amazing team of staff!"
My husband and I decided to arrive NYC earlier and the place we were booked at was sold out. Since my husband loves the Battery Park area, I decided to give the Gild Hall a shot. Boy, were we glad we did! It was raining and we couldn't catch a cab from Penn Station. So we decided to take the subway. It wasn't difficult to get to the hotel via the subway. But locating the hotel in the rain took quite a bit of effort. Once we found the entrance (somewhat misleading since the hotel's address was Gold street but the entrance was on Platt), everything went smoothly. Firstly, check in was a breeze and the lady who checked us in was very nice and friendly. The room we got was well appointed and on the larger side for NYC standards. I go to NYC a lot and am used to tiny rooms. Here we had room to spread out a little. The bathroom was also on the larger side though we had issues with the sink and shower. Somehow the sink splashes out a lot of water like the sink bowl is too small for the faucet. Not sure why. But no worries as using the towel to dry it off was a simple fix. As for the shower, it didn't drain fast enough and we would be showering in a pool of water. It didn't bother us enough to complain though. What blew us away was the friendly staff that strive to go above and beyond for us. They would greet us each time they see us. Even offered water to us several times including when we were waiting for our ride after checking out. As part of my Expedia elite status, I was given $20 mini bar credit and free premium wifi which was nice. But mind you, the minibar is expensive so $20 doesn't get you much. While en route to the hotel, I cut my foot in the rain against the sidewalk and found myself bleeding and bruised after checking into the hotel. I called front desk and a staff member showed up almost instantly and gave me a bunch of band aid, alcohol rub and antiseptic cream. I truly appreciated it as going to a pharmacy in the rain would have further infected my foot. Happy to report that my foot is healing well without having to go get a tetanus shot! The location is convenient and central. It is close to the WTC and a lot of food and shopping spots. We were able to walk everywhere and it was convenient for us to get to where we wanted to go. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I highly recommend this place for adults traveling without children and professionals. You won't regret coming here. The reason I specified adults only was because it doesn't appear to be a place that a family with children would like. There is a thriving bar in the lobby and the room's minibar came with a box filled with adult toys. I am guessing this is not kid appropriate.
"So glad we chose this hotel!"
This was our first trip to NYC and after 6months researching hotels we chose to stay here and we are so glad we did. The location for us was perfect. I loved the area around the Seaport and was so glad we did not choose to stay midtown. The hotel is located near subway stations which are so easy to use. The hotel itself has a nice boutique feel to it and the staff are so helpful in every way, they kindly organised our return transfer to JFK. We booked through Expedia and got a good deal on a deluxe double. Check in and check out was smooth and straightforward. Our bed was big and very comfortable which was welcomed after a day exploring the city. The bar and restaurant also looked lovely but unfortunately we did not have time to try them out but will definitely try out on our next visit. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and will look forward to returning some day.
"Great stay but hotel check out process let the hotel down"
The hotel offers great value in NY downtown area. Unfortunately, the hotel check out process is not up to scratch which led to a restaurant charge billed to me 5 hours after I checked out of the hotel. The charge was eventually reversed after a fairly tedious process. I will be back at this hotel nevertheless given the great value it offers but I will be a bit more vigilant.
"Best Hotel in the financial district of NYC"
From the front office staff to the Felice (resturant) staff it's hard to beat this hotel. Rooms very clean and the food and drinks are out of this world at Felice! I stay there every trip to NYC every other month dusring the year.
"What a gem!"
This was our family's first hotel stay in NY ever and we feel totally lucky that we stumbled on such a gem. The staff was unfailingly friendly and helpful, the decor was charming and the room was extremely comfortable and attractively decorated.
