"Location and breakfast"
All in all a very good experience, but some details that aren´t as small as they seem pull down - especially when added up. Location is super, on Lönnrotsgatan. Walking distance to Esplanaden, city market at the harbour, Uspenski cathedral, Sibelius monument, stone church... The hotel is partly located in what appears to be an old castle, but most rooms are in the connecting blocks. Our room was spacious, so was the bathroom. Breakfast was so, so good (and ah, the coffee...). There were slippers, that´s always nice. Sweet staff. On the down side: windows couldn't be opened. The AC only went down to 19C, which is above sleeping temperature. So the room was always a little too warm. While the shower cabinet was spacious, the glass wall between the shower and the bedroom could very well have been shaded all the way, not only in the middle. Some privacy is nice... The lighting in the bathroom was almost absent. We missed a fridge - as you can´t buy drinks in the bar and bring them to the room. If GLO hotel Art wants to appear environmental friendly, why were the towels changed every day' We hung them to dry, and got new ones every day. General Finland tip: In my (traveling Norwegian) opinion, there is nowhere else (in the world) that serves better coffee. Avoid the chains, obviously, and you´ll have the best coffee you´ve ever tasted. In my opinion.
"Good Hotel - Modern Interiors - Breakfast Could Have been better!"
We were part of a tour of Scandinavia and stayed 1 night at this refurbished hotel. This is done up very tastefully - spacious room - with a modern artistic touch. The entry is a bit complicated with room key cards to be used a various places before one gets to one's room - maybe a good safety measure. The Showers (2) were Excellent and the experience was refreshing - however toiletries provided were standard quality - with No Soap Cake - only liquid soaps and shampoo in canisters which took a bit of time to get used to. For a Hotel of this Caliber these must be of better quality . The breakfast was disappointment - especially there were no customized Egg Preparations and there were almost no other options for Vegatarians. The Hotel also seemed short-staffed to handle our Group of 40 persons.
Really good hotel, very centrally located. Room was very comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great and plentiful and the hotel decor was wonderful. staying in an Art Nouveau Castle was novel and fun. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Lovely hotel with modern design in the rooms , very good breakfast, good location. The staff was very friendly and willing to help regarding restaurant recommendations, reservations etc. I recommend it .
"Good Hotel, for a quick short trip in the heat of the city"
The hotel is well located, everything is walking distance from the Hotel. The rooms aren't that big, which is okay if you're there for just a few days and mainly sightseeing. Breakfast was really good. Big Variety. However is gets cramped as lots of guests are using it. I would suggest to have an early breakfast to avoid the rush.
