"2 nights at GLO Art - disappointing"
Sorry but: 7 doors and 2 elevators to reach my room from the Reception is "quite not" the ideal customer experience I was expecting. + very (very) tiny room, including bathroom The only positive : the price was acceptable
The good first: clean, newish, ok location. Big flat TV. Breakfast standart good, could have more warm dishes. The rooms in the new side have strange shower/toilet design. Glass door: won't close tight letting toilet's natural sounds and aroma spread. The shower cubicle's wall to the room is glass. It may not be many guests who truly enjoy this. Wery little room for clothes. AC: only temperature control possible, the room was still damp and smelly after half an hour of breakfast after morning showers etc. No fridge. In our room the toilet door would not even close properly, and the faucet on the sink was coming apart. The toilet seat water tank kept at times loud funny whistling sound when filling, at first we suspected it to be fire alarm :D => Expensive design flaws sink points.
"There's an old side and a new side."
Have stayed in this hotel several times. GLO Hotels have good offers for regular customers and mailing list subscribers. Good location within walking distance of Helsinki city center, yet away from the busiest and noisiest streets. Clean, functional rooms true to the GLO/Kämp collection hotels style. Tasty breakfast with a big assortment, restaurant is a bit small though. Complementary tea, coffee, shampoo, soap, shower gel in the rooms. This hotel has an old part and a new part of the hotel. Both parts have the same insanely comfortable beds and amenities. The new rooms have a more modern and minimalistic, industrial(') design, while the old rooms are more art deco. On my last visit, I stayed in the new part. The new part is a walk through several corridores and doors away. When I reached it, my nose felt congested and I thought I had suddenly gotten the flue, but this feeling went away every time as soon as I went outdoors. So I don't know was it something in the hotel or room or just coinsidense... Professional and helpful staff.
Service was great - from check in to wait staff. Room was located in the building opposite to reception. Room was clean but was also quite cold & noisy a/c. Not much privacy in the bathroom, could be quite awkward depending on who you were travelling with! Bed was comfy, but two separate blankets were given for a large double bed.. Good value for money and great location, but would think twice before booking again!
"Looks are deceiving...."
The building and lobby had a Moor - ish atmosphere, what with the ceiling arches, tiled floors, heavy doors....but our room was incredibly comfortable: wonderful beds, heated bathroom floor - lots of room to spread out. A real treat!!
