"Not a huge fan"
The hotel itself is obviously very nice. However, a lot of things irritated me throughout my stay. Firstly was the fact I was locked out my day 3 days in a row because I had expensive items in there and the cleaning ladies apparently got scared. Worsening was this fact that I went up and down to reception SIX TIMES to rectify this situation and every time I was made to wait another 10 minutes while they served other clients. This was irritating. Secondly was the false promise of WiFi throughout the hotel. The only workable internet connection was in the lobby, and that would also cut out for 30 to 45 minutes at a time. The internet in the room was too slow to even load a web page. Thirdly were the additional charges for the gym. When a hotel advertises gym and leisure facilities, as a guest I don't expect to pay extra for them. Finally, I tried to take a friend who I have known for years upstairs (not a sexual pursuit) and was told this was not allowed for security reasons. I have never known such a rule to be implemented in a hotel. Breakfast is OK, staff in the restaurant are very attentive. Room is very comfortable. Caracas is a very dangerous place right now, be careful and plan ahead before making any visit.
Considering the country situation, the experience was better than expected, the food was good and the personnel attention was excellent, I will return without any doubt in my coming trips. Please keep the good work
Great hotel, next to a decent shopping center and close to cultural attractions. We frequently travel to Caracas on the weekends to see the symphony or visit a museum, and the Gran Melia never disappoints.
"Best option in Caracas"
Best comfort/price relationship, great breakfast, very important aspect is that the hotel is placed in a mall, so you can have a walk and dine out w/o really leaving the hotel - this is really important since Caracas is the most dangerous capital city in the entire world; regarding my review, any opinion about hotels in Caracas always must be put in perspective with the current situation of Venezuela, not really a turistic place right now, not just for safety but also for food provisioning and so on.
"Great five Star Hotel, location is not the best unless you work around the area."
The hotel is enormous, great convention centre. Very close to one of the best commercial centres in Caracas called El recreo. This commercial centre has everything you might need. The shops are nice and restaurants are quiet good,
