"What a fantastic hotel"
Close to the centre and fish market. Lovely room with a gallery and exposed beams. Great bed and bathroom. Car park can be tricky as it's a lift and quite tight for us in an MPV but there were larger AWD vehilces down there. The breakfast was very good with hot and cold options. Staff were very helpful. OK, pricey but you get what you pay for, Would we stay again' YES!
"Lost for words!"
I am writing this review, purely so others will read how badly treated we have been by this hotel. I booked two rooms in this hotel on the 10th of October, staying on the 30th November for 3 nights. I secured the booking with credit card, I received an e mail stating due to the fact that the booking was over a certain amount in Euros, that 50% of the price had to be paid by the 30th October and the rest before we arrived, I e mailed and asked them to give me the amount for my room, and that I would pay it, and so would the others. Originally I asked for the booking to be in two separate names but that didn't happen, and according to the hotel this led to them looking for full payment before we arrived, can I point out that this was not a pre pay rate. I was away on holidays on the 30th October and I will hold my hand up and say I completely forgot about it, but I opened up my e mails to see that they had written to say that we had been automatically cancelled out of the system as they had not received the 50%, I phone immediately, I spoke to 3 different staff members, who assured me our booking was ok, and just fill out the credit card authorisation form, and photograph the credit card and send it on, which I did, yet again all was confirmed, I must point out at this stage, I was constantly phoning, I was even told that the lady I was speaking too, was just finishing the confirmation e mail to us, which never arrived. I also didn't get the return phone calls I was promised. I received an e mail on Friday just gone saying that they had cancelled us due to the fact that the hotel was fully booked! I spoke to a young man, who in fairness took the brunt of my anger, sheer shock and frustration. I was told they cancelled at their discretion''' My reply was that they had a credit card on file from the 10th of October securing the booking, and that they had tried to phone me on some number, not the mobile number I had given them. None of this made any sense, I asked for the manager to phone me, which of course didn't happen, I phoned her yesterday morning, and when I asked why she hadn't phoned me, she told me she had important reports to attend to first, to which I replied that this was of equal importance. That phone call got me nowhere, she eventually told me the phone call was doing me no good, how thoughtful after all this! She told me she was only the messenger, that their general manager had made the decision to which I asked for him to call me on Monday. As it stands now we have 4 flights booked and paid for, I spent all of yesterday and some of Friday evening ringing hotels all the travel sites and the hotel site are showing availability, I have photographed this this morning. As I said I am lost for words with the way the hotel has treated this. Leading to me writing this review, my feelings on this are, there was a certain amount of arrogance in the delivery of all this, and if this hotel can be so confident as to deal with a situation in this manner well they must not need the business.
what a beautiful most romantic hotel , too bad i checked in here alone , but this hotel and this city for sure needs a more romantic partner other than my laptop, loved the sophistication/simplicity and the service ...the place is amazing , expensive a bit but worth every penny you pay , location is amazing , short walk to everything
"Beautiful hotel "
Stayed at the hotel with my husband and two daughters who are 9 and 10. We stayed in a family room that was on two floors. The beds were very comfortable and the breakfast was really nice with so much choice. Would recommend.
"Grand Hotel Casselbergh - timeless charm and grandeur"
We have visited previously and were very impressed. This time was shortly after our visit to The Dukes Palace. The Grand Hotel Casselbergh is the hotel we find the most impressive in Bruges. This time we had 2 executive rooms, 1 for my 89 year old mother and 1 for the two of us. Our rooms were finished to a very high and characterful period standard (something lacking at The Dukes Palace). We had ample space and the bathrooms were very clean, well maintained and spacious. The bar with its multiple lounge areas are a real feature and a delightful place to have a night cap. Breakfast is a buffet arrangement and literally everything is available. It is all prepared nicely and tastes fresh with good quality ingredients. Car parking is available under the hotel but it is a bit of a squeeze but manageable with larger cars (we have a four wheel drive). The staff and service were faultless. We will definitely use The Grand Hotel Casselbergh as our preference when we next return to Bruges. Look out for offers on rooms at this hotel.
