"Stayed in many Paris hotels - best experience yet"
In many business and personal trips to Paris, Grand Hotel Saint-Michel is the best experience I've had yet. Wonderful service, great rooms (mine was cavernous by Parisian hotel standards) a great location close to all the fun of the Left Bank but just removed enough for quieter nights - as well as a block away from Luxembourg Gardens. The RER B is very close (easy transit to CDG and Gare du Nord), so it's very convenient as well. Thoroughly enjoyed this hotel and will stay there on future trips whenever possible. Many thanks for a great, great stay.
"Best place to stay in Paris"
I'm a frequent Paris-traveller and I was amazed to experience the comfort and service quality of this hotel. The room was very comfortable, the amenities in the bathroom were excellent. The reception desk was exceptionally friendly and immediately offered me fresh-squeezed orange juice and coffee with excellent pâtisseries on the next day - everything on the house. No reason to choose another hotel in Paris...
"City of Love"
What a perfect way to spend our 10 year marriage anniversary. This hotel was a bit small than what we are used to (in the US)hence the 4 star rating. It was just a few minutes walk to the Notre Dame, Pantheon, and Luxembourg Gardens. We had the breakfast inclusion and that was a great way to start our day. They offered free wifi which was a life saver! Just an FYI, it is close to their university. Overall, a good hotel choice.
"A Wonderful and Exciting Seven Days"
I first visited Paris back in 1981. I loved it then and I love it now. My lady Sandy and I spent a wonderful 7 days in the City of Romance. It was mid-May and the weather was superb, but where Paris really excels is in the area of accommodation and cuisine. Of course, we took in the obligatory dinner cruise down the Seine, and we thoroughly enjoyed the tour of the Effiel Tower. Oh yes, I shouldn't forget our trip down the Champs Elyse and our visit the top of the Arc di Triumph. Certainly, the Metro was an excellent and relatively easy way to get around the Paris. However, from our reasonably located (centre of Paris) location we were able to walk to most places, thereby getting a real feel for the city and all it has to offer. Then again, the City of Paris speaks for itself and has been written about by many over the years. So the restaurants and cafes were abundant and remarkably good. With the exception of one bistro, we were thoroughly impressed with Parisienne cuisine. One, in particular, stands out. It was a place called Pizza Sarno at 31, rue de la Harpe. This Italian eatery was superb, as were the wait staff. Perhaps the best meal we had in Paris, and that's saying something because generally, the food was exceptional at all the other eateries Sandy and me visited. There is so much more I could write about the cuisine, but I want to save some good commentary for the Hotel we stayed at. It was the Grand Hotel Saint-Michel. It was delightful. Clearly it proved every bit the 4-star establishment that it claimed to be. It was typically smaller, but modern with all the amenities that one would ask for in a 4-star hotel. The staff were perfectly fluent in English and warm and friendly, not to mention helpful in a myriad of ways. Would we stay there again' If it maintains it's wonderful service policies, amenities and helpful staff, I can unequivocally say, ABSOLUTELY! Bottom line... Our stay was wonderful. Paris Shuttle was booked in advance and they were right there to assist in getting us from the airport to the hotel and back to the airport. Blue Fox Tours were great as was the tour guide at the Eiffel Tower and the guide was superbly interesting. Our dinner cruises Bateaux Parisiens aboard the Diamant (I believe the name was) was superb. Yes, superb! I recommend them highly. In all, we'd have loved another week just in Paris. The people were warm, friendly and helpful. English was spoken by many more locals than had been the case when I was last there in '81. It was a great 7 days. Booked through Expedia and they delivered as promised. If you get the chance to go to Paris take it. If you can book the Grand Hotel Saint-Michel, do it. You'll be glad you did. Oh yeah... don't forget great Italian at Pizza Sarno. SUPERB! Happy and safe travelling. All the best, Gerald
"Great Location and comfortable rooms"
Location very close to St German and walking distance to many main tourist attractions as the Louvre, Notre Dame, the Seine, Beautiul view and terrace. The hotel staff were so helpful and gave great restaurant suggestions within walking distance. Called and made our reservations. On Monday nights most restaurants are closed in Paris but the front desk worked feverishly calling until they found a suitable restaurant for us that would be open since we were celebrating my birthday.
