"Excellent location, beautiful hotel, all the amenitites."
I attended a conference in Washington, D.C. and decided to stay in the hotel where the conference was held, the Grand Hyatt Washington. This hotel is perfectly located for tourists and business visitors alike. The Metro Station is located in the hotel, just down 3 escalators to the main entrance. This is a huge convenience! I stayed in a king room on the 10th floor. My room was huge, clean and nicely appointed. I am a light sleeper yet never heard a peep from the neighboring rooms. Housekeeping did a nice job, and the hotel staff were gracious and friendly and always willing to offer directions to area attractions. The room rates are high ... keep this in mind! But I felt every penny spent was worth it.
"The Staff and Location Makes the Difference"
You have many choices in lodging while staying in Washington, DC. My family has selected the Grand Hyatt several times for many reasons, but mainly due to the STAFF and the great LOCATION. In regards to the staff, every special request has been handled promptly and courteously. They try their best to fulfill their customer's needs. While it might not be possible to say YES to every request, my family has never heard NO. A special shout out to Marcy Bustamante. Marcy has went the extra mile to make our stays special. Marcy, I appreciate YOU. In regards to location, how could you make it any better. The hotel sits on top of one of the main subway stations in the city (Metro Center). From this subway station you can reach just about every main site in the city. Metro Center station is one of the cleanest stations in the city and very well signed for directions. If you prefer to walk, the National Mall is only a 7-8 minute walk from the hotel. Chinatown with all the great places to eat is a short 5-6 minute walk from the hotel (plus there's another great subway station there). If you are thinking of a pro sports event, the stadium is a short walk from the hotel (we did not take in a game so I don't have any info about this). Besides STAFF and LOCATION, there are other reason we have returned. The rooms are slightly larger than normal. The beds are very comfy with plenty of plush pillows. If you end up on the executive floor you will enjoy the breakfast and the virtual around the clock snacks that are available. I especially like the breakfast because it's not the same old same old every day. They change up the menu everyday. Be sure to drop by the desserts in the late evening. Fantastic! The lobby is a great place for photos. There are shops in the hotel and plenty of services. Need directions ...just ask anyone. Overall, I give this hotel an excellent grade. Now, I have read some of the other reviews and I understand some of their comments. The hotel is not new and while they have done an excellent job maintaining the building you will see some wear and tear on the carpet, walls, etc. Personally speaking, I don't let a little wear and tear ruin my vacation. I have a little wear and tear on my house back home. That doesn't make my leave my home. I believe if you will look beyond a few stains on the carpet and a mark or two on the walls, you will discover a hotel that will make you feel like you are home. It does for my family.
"My stay at the Grand Hyatt"
I stayed at the Grand Hyatt because of a retirement party. The venue was great, the service was good and the proximity to great stores and restaurants was excellent. The hotel has been renovated since my last stay and it was quite lovely.
"Among best choices near capital hill"
Within walking distance of Union Station and capital hill, this easy to find go to DC location. Multiple venues within a conference hotel Full bar, multiple dining options on site and in area and decent spa on sight Frequent Hyatt travelers are well attended Concierge knowledgeable and helpful
Check in was as easy as could be. The front desk staff was professional and helpful. The rate was not great but about what I would expect for a Grand Hyatt in D.C. My room was supposedly one for the handicapped. Luckily I did not actually need it. The shower / tub was not usable if I were handicapped. As I am not it was lovely. I actually soaked in the tub. The bed was comfy. However, what is the purpose of a headboard that lights up' What a waste of money and electricity. Cool but still a waste. There were plenty of places to plug in chargers... The room was quiet, The light was good in the bathroom to put makeup on. There were no drawers to put clothing in except the table between the beds. This seemed odd to me. I lost my key. They handled it properly. As I had locked my ID in the room safe, I had to meet security at the room and she waited for me to prove who I am. At that point, I was taken back to the front desk to get a new key. The conference food was good, They handled food issues well,
