"Appalling air-con, and concrete beds"
We stayed here 4 nights as part of a guided tour - the worst hotel experience we probably have ever had.....We had to complain about the poor air conditioning in our first room 801, and about the concrete-hard bed. Promises to check the AC seemed to be just that as it continued not to cool the room even after being apparently checked. A ‘quilt’ was placed on the bed with only marginal improvement. (A replacement room was not available as the hotel ‘was fully booked’) A request to move rooms (the next day) was only agreed to after a pointed complaint at 9.30pm when remarkably a room (1141) was available. Air conditioning in the new room was just a bad and can only be described as abysmal. The bed was still rock hard and we placed the doona under the bottom sheet. Breakfast in this hotel was disorganized with many selections empty and very slow to be re-filled, lack of plates, cups, glasses and tables were difficult to find as they were not cleared promptly. Generally we had to clear a table to be able to eat our breakfast. (Hint to the breakfast cereal staff - use catering packs, not small 400g packs - to refill the cereal dispensers - it runs out after 3 or 4 customers!) The ‘Yummy Café’ restaurant was surprisingly good with a good menu selection and not over-priced. Overall hotel rating in our view – Poor and we would not recommend the hotel.
"Very nice hotel in a great location!!!"
Our family of 4 stayed in 2 separate executive rooms. The hotel was very nice at a great location inside the old city walls. There's lot of restaurants and shopping nearby. Our hotels included a buffet breakfast every morning; go early, the breakfast area gets very busy through the morning. The buffet breakfast selection was very good with both Chinese and Western style food. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel.
"Noble it is !!!"
This was the second of the four hotels we were to stay in on our China holiday, and it was better than the first . First impressions of the front entrance is very good ,looks what you expect a five star hotel should look like . Inside was just as impressive, very elegant ,good quality flooring and decor. Checking in was taken care of by our guide and I must say Emma came back very quickly,we were impressed. Bedroom was a good size , although the bathroom was smaller than the previous hotel, overall it was good ,a little tied again but clean and cool enough. We didn't eat in the hotel in the evening as we already had a meal organised for us but we did have breakfast the next morning. Although the room itself was nicely decorated ,getting a seat to eat your breakfast was more complicated as you were left to find your own seat which caused a bit of a problem, and we didn't think we would get breakfast in time ,before having to leave on our next excursion. The problem was that groups of people who were together, were not utilising the seats and instead of grouping up together you would find one person on a table for four ,talking to three people on a table for four and the another two people on a table for four who were all together, but being selfish with the seating when they could quite clearly see people wanting seats . Breakfast was ok .
"Nice hotel, I liked the beds"
We stayed 3 nights at the Grand Noble. Housekeeping did a great job. Our room was very nice, and well appointed. We had a separate soaking tub and good-sized shower. There were comments in our group about the beds being hard, but I liked the firmness. My only complaint about the room was that the thermostat didn't seem to function, I found the room warm and stuffy, especially in the early morning. Breakfast buffet was very good, with more European-style items (cheeses, breads) than the other hotels we stayed at in China. Hotel location is excellent for walking to old city wall and moat. We'd stay here again.
"Nice hotel, pity about the BEDS!"
Two rooms, one queen bed, 2 singles. Everything was fine, only excepting the beds! As hard as anything I have ever tried to sleep on - digging a hole in beach sand would be more comfortable. All other services were fine - rooms, facilities, breakfast, services. Laundry charges a bit fearsome, but thats not uncommon. Part of a package tour, so no idea of costs.
