I stayed here for the conference. This Ex-SPG hotel looks very old but the rooms are renovated so it is pretty modern inside. Bedding was good, amenities were nice and there are the emergency personnel stuffs like underwear in the room. This is because the hotel is located on the hill very far from everything. That means if you are coming to Seoul for the city exploring, this is the wrong address. I expected some reduced pricing overall in their F&B outlets due to losing their SPG partnership but it was not. Everything is very much over-priced for what you get. The prime view here is the riverside but to be honest there are not so much stuffs to see over the river. That's even worse if your room is under 10th floor. Check if your room doesn't have anything in front. The service. It is hard to tell that everybody is not kind but nobody is remarkably happy or kind here at the 'Grand'. I moved to Douglas which is their even more remote and historical building, the service there was really really different. Everybody was very helpful and was willing to give the best care. It seems like they know how to do better. But why not at Grand & Vista' 컨퍼런스 참가차 그랜드에서 1박, 더글라스에서 1박. 그랜드 방은 리노베이션 해서 꽤 모던하지만 약간 모텔 느낌. 한강 전망 업그레이드 했지만 앞에 커다란 건물이 가로막고 있었음. 저층부는 한강이 잘 안보임. 서비스는 매우매우 사무적임. 호텔같지 않고 SK오피스에 볼 일 보러 간 것 같음. SPG에서 나와서 로열티도 줄었을텐데 신기하게 음식 가격들은 다 그대로임. 가히 서울 최고 수준. 산속에 파뭍혀서 다른 대안이 없어서 그런가봄. 더 부페 조식은 참말로 간단함. 기대할 것이 없는 서비스드 레지던트 조식. 그랜드가 실망스러워 간김에 더글라스도 1박 했는데, 여기서 진정한 서비스를 경험함. 거기 계신 직원분들 정말 한분한분 친절하시고, 첵인하고 방까지 가는데 내가 괜찮다고 해도 짐도 들어 주시고 모든게 완벽한 서비스였음. 고급 휴양지 수준. 방은 옛날 스타일이긴 해도 넓은 테라스도 있고 그랜드보다 한강도 잘 보이고 정말 쉬러온 느낌이 들었음. 건물 밖에 더글라스 주차장이 있어 차 끌고 오기도 훨씬 편함. 더글라스 서비스 수준을 보면 훌륭한 서비스가 뭔지 워커힐은 알고 있다. 그런데 그랜드/비스타에는 왜 그렇게 안할까'
After a long trip and a long wait for my NON SMOKING room, I finally get my keys. As we enter, I am floored by the extremely strong smell of smoke. I call reception to ask for a room change. Instead of immediately agreeing, they asked me to wait for housekeeping to come and verify. As if my word is not good enough. As I write this, i am still waiting for housekeeping. And my clothes and I are soaking in the smoke residue. Totally unacceptable!! The hotel may be nice but I'm rating it poorly because of poor treatment of a guest's valid complaint.
This a very good up market hotel however be aware that the in house food is extremely expensive. However In saying that the breakfasts which were a part of the room rate were excellent value and very good meals
"No wifi in rooms"
For a 4-star hotel, it is surprising that wifi is not available in rooms but only in the lobby. Upon checking was informed that room wifi was being installed and was able to access it about an hour later. However speed was slow. Something to note for business travellers.
