"Standard Marriot fare"
Stayed alone June 2017. It is not walking distance from the Hauptbahnof (train station) - about 1 mile in a cab. The train station is without doubt the busiest train station I've ever been to in the World and I've been to a lot - it was hard to move for people. Always a good sign when there are flashy cars parked outside of a hotel in Germany - tends to show people with a few bob stay there! The hotel is happily located in one of the upmarket areas of Hamburg. Lots of designer shops very close by. Extremely friendly reception staff spoke perfect english and could not have been more helpful. Lift to room 165. Large with usual Marriot cream and red everywhere! Went to gym - basement. One of the bigger pools I've seen but as ever with German hotels the gyms are not big enough or have enough equipment. Decent standard life fitness stuff and two different sets of dumbbells going up to 28kg so not pathetic but no resistance machines at all. Disappointing and the only real reason I didn't give the hotel 5 star instead of 4. Comfortable beds, quiet rooms, excellent breakfast in quite a trendy bar area which is beyond the lively piano bar (baby grand) in the evening. All in all a good stay. Would return if I couldn't find a hotel with a proper gym.
"Good hotel but staff is very different"
Currently staying in hotel check in always not so easy. One time hotel charge me two times. This staying I asking for a quite room (cause problem with sleep) but they give me room with Windows to the street. I booked executive level room ( but I am gold and have free access to this level) but they don't upgrade me and give the smallest room from all of my 3 staying in hotel. Maybe it is new manager on front desk because of lady who make check in were very kind and healpful. She wants to upgrade but manager denied. All staff is good, but rooms are not quite! And random upgrade for elite members (hotel is not fully booked). Good is also good and nice location and spa
"Good choice in city center"
Have stayed at this hotel twice for business and found it easy to get to nearby restaurants etc. Staff are efficient and the rooms have been spacious and very nice. The common areas are OK - well-appointed lobby but many areas feel dated. Note that there is currently (June 2016) significant street construction in front of the hotel entrance which seems to make it a little challenging for cars to approach the hotel. Presumably this is just a temporary inconvenience.
"nice and comfortable option near Binnenalster"
Very clean, attractive and well appointed - pretty much what I'd expect of Marriott. The only crummy point: my teenage son's room service food was pretty awful and expensive. Luckily my husband and I went out for dinner when my son wanted to stay in the room - our dinner was much better. Don't eat room service!
"Better than expected conference hotel"
Pleasant design throughout, sunny seating areas outside, an excellent modern conference hall, a perfect location in the city center, good service. I was pleasantly surprised. Even a cigar humidor, wow! The only downside is the relatively small breakfast area.
