"Great location and service!"
I was very happy with this hotel. While the room was small (duh, Hong Kong) the beds were fabulous and the shower and bathroom were well-appointed and spacious. The only thing I would change in the room is the layout of the furniture. We were in a corner room and it was difficult to get to the windows to close the drapes because there was a banquet cabinet and desk in front of the windows. Otherwise, that, it was great. The service was wonderful as well. I was slightly surprised that the hotel did not offer a "hotspot" phone as most hotels in HK usually do for their guests. The lobby was dazzling and the location of the hotel itself was great - about 2 blocks from the Fortress Hill subway stop. Starbucks and restaurants abound. Would definitely stay here again!
"Not worth the price"
The location was convenient. A couple of minutes walk from the subway station. Almost all food seemed dry or oily at the breakfast buffet, but the breakfast was not refundable even though I cancelled the buffet for the rest of my stay. Because of the design of the water tap and shower head, it easily became soppy around. Having a big bathtub was nice. Aroma pillow never smelled aroma at all. Their room service was very slow. The swimming pool was outside.
"Impersonal run down hotel"
The hotel advertises itself as a luxury venue, but in reality behind he dazzling lobby there are not very clean (however spacious) rooms, ok pool facilities (currently overlooking construction site) and average restaurants. Service is a bit of a hit and miss: rather rude receptionist and clueless lobby staff, but everyone else was helpful and nice. The only thing I truly enjoyed is the view from the 41 floor restaurant that needs to be booked in advance.
The location is convenient. In spite of the three blocks to the subway station, these are three really short blocks...It is also convenient to get food...real authentic Hongkong food around the hotel. The check in wait was a little long but the front desk was fully functioning, so understandable. Room was bigger than I expected. After all, this is a busy location in the Hongkong Island. Housekeeping also did an excellent job by cleaning my room very nicely. One important thing is the hotel shuttle service. It was very punctual and the places it goes are all convenient locations. I went to the causeway bay area every day using the shuttle service :-) It also takes you to the airport express station so I don't have to carry my luggage through the busy busy subway station. What a relief. If I have to pick on something, my room was right next to a construction site. There was a little noise during the day. But that's all. Overall it was a very nice experience staying at Harbor Grand Hongkong.
Upon entering the Harbour Grand - you enter a different world - the reception and those huge and wonderful chandeliers create a fantastic ambiance. The Reception staff was very helpful, polite and answered your questions before you asked them! The room was indeed lovely, spotlessly clean and beautiful white cotton bed linen, wonderful hot shower and a bath - and we had a lovely view over the bay. We could not fault this hotel and I am surprised anyone else could. I would loved to have used the swimming pool but went down with an awful cold which was a shame. Manners and politeness in Hong Kong are in abundance, we found everyone even the market traders respectful, polite and helpful (they are not in the UK!). I did a stupid thing and dropped my mobile in the taxi - when I realised it, my husband rang the phone and the taxi driver had already taken it back to Harbour Grand - what honesty! Needless to say for a small fee the phone is on the way back to the UK. Nothing is too much trouble for this hotel, if you don't like the Harbour Grand then you are very hard to please. There is building work going on opposite - but that is not the hotel's fault and there is building work going on everywhere in Hong Kong so you can't miss it!
