"Mini Reunion of classmates in Barbados"
We were a group of 10 school friends heading down to Barbados from Canada to enjoy the May Long Weekend together and get reconnected. Some of us had not connected in 30 years. One classmate now lives in Barbados (for the past 4 years) so we were lucky to have her insight into the island and benefited from her suggestions and recommendations. The hotel location with it's access to the beaches at Needham's Point is spectacular! With all beaches in Barbados being "Public", you can walk for an hour on the Caribbean side toward the port where the cruise ships come in, and for an hour on the Atlantic side to the boardwalk and beyond. The water is a beautiful aqua colour and the sand is like powdered sugar. Swimming is easy and varied since you have access to the calmer Caribbean side or the large curling waves of the Atlantic side. There are ample umbrella's, loungers and chairs, free to guests both poolside and on the beach. The pool area and hotel are very clean and well maintained. The staff are very personable and try to be helpful and accommodate, but service at the hotel restaurants can be quite slow. The menu at the Water's Edge and Careenage restaurants are a little sparse, and the food is good but nothing outstanding. The breakfast buffet at the Lighthouse restaurant has good variety, but it quite pricey. You can order a la carte but service is slow. Given that there is a small fridge in guest rooms, we purchased breakfast/lunch items at a local grocery store and made our own breakfast and lunches from that. The dinner menu at the Lighthouse restaurant was pretty good although it could have a little more variety. We decided to go for a fancier dinner at The Grille restaurant in the hotel and found the food to be very good with ample portions. Our only disappointment is that they were not serving their full menu the night that we went, but rather a special menu with a choice of two appetizers and two entrees. The changes in menu and access to some of the restaurants (some get closed for private functions) was not well advertised. The fitness facilities are fantastic! I've never been in a hotel that dedicated such a large space and had so many high quality machines to access. There is even a separate large room within the fitness facility for yoga/Pilates/etc.
Very well maintained resort. Excellent amenities and grounds. The best beach to pool area of any oceanfront venue we've encountered. Great pool bar too. Very clean and contemporary furnished rooms. The balcony views of the oceans are awesome. The restaurant was very good with outdoor and indoor seating. The breeze was awesome. Very easy hotel to find from the airport as well.
"Excellent Sevice and location. The restaurant offering at dinner should be expanded. I would return and highly recommen"
The quality of service has improved significantly. The rooms are an excellent size and the view breathtaking; they should be cleaned earlier in the morning. The staff is very friendly and followed through on any requests made.
I stayed at this hotel for a conference. The facilities are very good and the food tasted great. Initially, upon entering my room, their was a musty scent. However it disappeared quickly after the air condition was on for some time. The credit card authorization scared me as I was starting to see a daily authorisation on my card after the initial hold. Despite these areas, I had a good time at the hotel. All the staff were friendly.
We were there for 5 nights for a conference. Property is beautiful and right on a great beach. Nice and helpful staff, friendly. Rooms are clean but light switches confusing and sometimes luke warm water. Got a little boring with the banquet meals and one restaurant was very slow on service and getting food out on two occasions. Overall it was an OK hotel and would stay again.
