"High expectations weren't quite met"
We arrived a few hours before check-in and asked if our rooms were ready. My colleague's was ready, but mine was not yet. They said it would however be ready in an hour, an hour early, which I was grateful for and said I would work from reception until then. A little after 1pm I went up to reception again and asked if it was now ready. After a quick call he said not yet, they'd need another half an hour. I smiled patiently and returned to my reception chair for the said time. Again returned and a similar pattern happened. Ultimately I was let in a few minutes early to the 2pm check-in. I didn't expect it to be ready before the official time, but could have done without the back and fourth. My room was on the 5th floor, and the lift felt oddly placed as I walked two lengths of the building's (lengthy) parameter to get to my room either which way I went. What I also found surprising is that despite having to be forced to take an executive suite at a far higher rate due to the hotel being booked, the room did not come with free wifi. I was told if I joined their programme they would offer this. I queried the double cost for the room and that they would honestly still charge wifi on top and they said that is the policy. So of course I joined the club. The room itself was nice but certainly not the grandeur I had been expecting for nearly €400 per night. Plus I had two single beds (nice as they were) so couldn't lounge in the luxury as I was hoping for. Breakfast was an extortionate €35 per person and was rather average. For that price you can order a steak on room service, but there are no breakfast options offered for obvious reasons. Perhaps if I had paid for a standard room and hadn't stayed elsewhere I wouldn't have had such high expectations but for the big Hilton name, I left a little wanting for more.
"Always made welcolme -- 2 nights from 13th October 2017"
Great hotel, great location central. Great breakfast buffet. Made welcome by all staff. Location good for getting hop on hop off bus for city tour. located in square with a concert hall and main shopping street.
"Great experience, great location"
Great experience, terrific location, clean hotel, comfortable beds, English-speaking staff. Breakfast buffet excellent, but pricy at 32 Euros (ideal to negotiate, if you can, for free). Across the street from the Underground. Easy walking distance to many historic sites.
"2 day business trip"
This is a nice hotel within 5 minutes walk of Checkpoint Charlie. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The rooms are modern and very clean. The service in the lobby bar and restaurant was very good. A great place to spend a few days exploring Berlin
"One knows they are in Germany the Hotel staff never smiled."
A lovely Hotel. Stayed here post Viking cruise. Ideally located for centre of Berlin. Breakfast is what you expect from a large Hotel so no complaints. Did not try dinner. Coffee and Cake was lovely and not expensive. Room was very smart. The real downside was it was too dark. No main lighting in the room, except bathroom. All floor or table lighting. Could have done with much brighter lighting if needed. This view was shared by fellow guests we had been on the cruise with. Although the staff looked gloomy we could not fault the service. Efficient, top class.
