"Solid hotel choice in Den Haag"
Stayed for 1 night at the Hilton den Haag while in the area and very pleased with the hotel. The lobby area is very Moorish like and the check in desk is hidden behind the pillars. Allocated room on the 5th floor with a small view over the canal and city view. The Hilton is located in the city center so you need to get a bus/taxi from den Haag Centraal station as it is not really within walking distance. Day ticket is only 6.50 euro which will also get you out to Scheveningen, only 10/15 minutes away on the tram to see the beach and the seaside. The room was a good size, the bed comfortable and clean, small desk area, tea and coffee facilities, the wifi which was free to Hilton Honors members worked very well. The bathroom was tasteful, separate tub and shower cubicle, plenty of soft clean towels and soap gels. All major UK television channels which was an unexpected bonus. The décor in the bedroom was a little dark for me but that’s just my opinion. Access to the executive lounge was included in my rate and it was worth the extra euro, also located on the 5th floor. Soft drinks, tea and coffee are available during the day and from 6 p.m. there was hot food, cheese, wine, beer and spirits on offer in the lounge. There is a lovely outside terrace so you can sit out and have a smoke or enjoy the fresh air and the seagulls! There was also a nice seating area with 2 armchairs on the 5th floor overlooking the canal which was quite restful. Breakfast was served on the ground floor restaurant, Pearl ( or I could have taken it in the lounge) and it was excellent, great choice of cooked items, eggs cooked to order and brought to your table by the lovely chef ( sorry I cannot remember her name) Lots of breads, pastries , fruits, cold cuts and cheeses. Everything you could want to give you a good start to the day. The staff were excellent, efficient yet friendly and happy to help, always a good sign in a hotel. It was easy to get around from the hotel and most signs are within walking distance. In fact, Panorama Mesdag is right next door so you have no excuse not to see it, it is an amazing painting and not like anything I have seen before , really worth visiting – you can buy a combined ticket to also visit Escher at the Paleis, which was interesting. Make sure you also visit Dungelmann for one of their amazing beef croquettes or meatballs served in a bread roll ( also available to take home ) A solid choice as a hotel if you are staying in the Hague.
"Modern large room"
Nice location , convenient enough but not noisy. Room larger than usual. Nice bathroom. Clean. Friendly , helpful staff. Walking distance to to good restaurants and tourist spots. The bar had a nice atmosphere with good music.
"Cost saving measures"
Location is great and for both corporate and leisure it is good - they are driving cost saving measures and not pay for everything while the bill remains the same. Ideal from location standpoint but small costs are added to the overall bill like water bottles
"The Hilton in the Hague is Amazing!!"
Every single person I encountered was beyond friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious and had a lot of options to choose from. Room was clean, nice and had a great view. Hotel is located a few minutes away from train station and about 1 hour train ride to Amsterdam Central. There is lots of restaurants, Ice cream shops, clothing shops etc. in walking distance from the hotel.
"Poor Value and poor level of cleanliness"
The hotel is well positioned in the heart of this fabulous city. The rooms are a fair size but extremely poorly lit. Like too many hotels these days there is no overhead light and in these rooms, there are just loads of low wattage lamps dotted around the place, most of which need individually switching on. Such a pain, and even when all are on there still is not enough light to read a book easily. The most unfortunate thing in the room I stayed in, and for sure this would not have been a one off; was the YEARS of dirt under the beds. On moving the beds the piles of dust around the bed legs was astonishing. This hotel costs USD200 per night for goodness sake!! It is a well known chain. Do they really not regularly (maybe monthly') move the beds to clean properly underneath'' The plates of people who have had room service were routinely left on the floor in corridors for HOURS. This is pretty disgusting and surely encourages vermin. Last gripe is why oh why do these type of hotels provide twin bedded rooms for single occupancy' Who needs twin bedded rooms; brothers staying with sisters, same gender heterosexuals' How big a proportion of the hotel population fit in these categories' How much more pleasant it would be and how much more space there would be in the same size room if there was simple a double bed.
