"Disappointing for an international chain"
Plus points 1) Location: The area is right in the middle of TST. 2) Room Size: By HK standards, the room size is excellent 3) Housekeeping: The only reason i did not rate this hotel any lower is that the housekeeping staff is excellent! Minus points 1) Renovation: I was there during the renovation of the lobby. I have to say that it is a MAJOR hazard. I am surprised that HK does not enforce proper safety protocols. There were wires dangling from the roofs while guest were expected to navigate the pathway to the lifts which were stacked with tiles or equipment along the temporary walkway. This is unacceptable especially when this hotel is supposed to be family friendly with children moving about. 2) Room is dated: There were chip tiles/marble and the toilet doors etc were in bad condition with door laminates broken.
This is my second stay here, the hotel is in a very good location for shopping and train services, also good connections to airport via shuttle bus to train station to catch airport express train. Rooms are a little bit small and a bit outdated but i understand they are getting a refit. Staff are very friendly and helpful, Breakfast is good with a very good selection. Views from the rooms are not great, I will stay here again because of location.
"Pretty good enough for my standard"
Stayed in holiday Inn golden mile for a total of 5 nights with my family. We have 2 pre schoolers with us. We stayed at level 4, room 424. We have to accept that everything in Hongkong is expensive, the room we gotten has 2 x double bed and we bought its daily breakfast buffet as well. The location is a stone throw away from taim sha tsui MTR entance, super awesome for family with kids. My son loves to challenge me on climing up and down thr flights of stairs at the MTR entrance. Highly recommend the daily buffet breakfast, although they served the same type of food throughout the 5 morning, we dont complain as meals in HK can be very expensive on the streets. Moreover kids eat for free. The siew mai, was exceptionally good.i ate Smoked salmon every morning. Shiok. We know nothing can be perfect, the room can be further improve, i know the management is looking into upgrading the room soon. The pocketed spring mattress is a bit old, and i have backache waking up in the morning. The bathroom is quite cramp and narrow, but hey this is Hongkong and they have a bathtub in the toilet. The water pressure is superb, very strong pressure. The gym is adequate, free weights like dumbell, and 2-3 threadmill. Aircon super cold This hotel cant go wrong for singaporean family with kids on an average budget of $200-$250 per night.
HOTEL Location is good, walking distance to the harbour. Near shopping & food. Views from the room is limited as it is between a few buildings. The room was somewhat dated & thus appeared as not so clean. If you are fussy with cleanliness, consider asking for a room that is more modern. Food was ok, better value in nearby restaurants. A handy 7-11 store up the road for any incidentals. TOURS If you are going to book a tour with Grey Line, ensure that you ask for all the options & more importantly, consider if the weather will affect the value of your tour. I did have to ask for a refund (that they honored) after having paid an extra HK$60 for a view at 'The Peak' only to find the fog prevented any view to be seen. Worth doing the tram ride up to the peak. TRANSFERS The hotel does not offer a shuttle service from the airport. I opted to pay for a taxi that cost HK$290. I do believe there is a service at the airport that would be around HK$130.
I recommend this hotel mainly for its good location. It's near public transport and it's easy to get an Uber ride in the area. The room size is adequate and the rooms are clean. Moreover, the breakfast buffet has a respectable spread. Service is also efficient.
