I stayed at this HI in Natal while visiting family in the area. The hotel is new and clean and staff was extremely friendly. I was there on vacation so cannot speak to business services. Room was clean and comfortable, and unlike another reviewer, thought the pool area was perfect for a quick dip and cooling off. Only complain was that there was no coffee in my room. I had to go down to get it from dining room...no big deal. I will definitely stay here again in the future.
"Only go there if you really need to!"
If you have a conference happening at the hotel, consider staying there since the traffic in Natal can be a pain. Otherwise, stay away. I am IHG Gold so I stay a lot with Holiday Inn and like them. But this was a disapointment. Very slow check in, service is ok but not very concerned about you. Rooms are ridicously small. Noisy air conditioning fan. Mediocre breakfast. The pool is a little joke on the 2nd floor. Positive side: Clean, new, everything working in the room and in the hotel. Except for the A/C noise, quiet hotel. Check out was ok. Be careful with some of the taxis they will help you get. They are nice and clean but at least one of the drivers made a point in finding "express" ways that ended up more expensive than necessary.
"A nice hotel in a not so nice neighborhood"
The Holiday Inn Natal has the same standard as almost all others Holiday Inn. This one is a new hotel, located close to Arena das Dunas, a football (soccer) stadium built for the World Cup. However, there is no restaurants or coffee shops in its neighborhood. The check in was quick. The rooms are comfortable (including the bed), with a large selection of TV channels. There is some noise from the street, but nothing that interfere with your sleep. The breakfast had a good variety of options, from Brazilian typical Tapioca, to international classics. Good place for a business trip, but far from the touristic sites.
"Lowered expectations, but it just got worse!"
Supposedly as a (still) new hotel from FIFA World Cup 2014 days, the Holiday Inn Natal was a complete disappointment. Firstly, the hotel does not have a separate check-in for IHG Platinum Elite members. While the reception staff attempts to help, the hotel is definitely not capable of coping with large groups staying in the hotel. With just 2 small lifts and more than 200 rooms, 1 lift was either not working or taking forever...... The upgraded room was simplistic to say the least, with housekeeping having missed towels, and basic necessities in the room. Checking with a colleague who was in a normal room, at least towels and amenities were there. Requests to the Housekeeping was redirected to Reception, which of course no one answered. I had to go down to the reception 3 times within 1 hour to get a towel delivered, after the first try at noon before going out. With the Paralympic Torch relay happening in Natal, on-going concerts and some other events, there were a lot of guests. The morning breakfast was a complete mess. Overall, the experience was a disappointment. As a IHG Intercontinental Ambassador and Platinum Elite member, it is a disservice to the brand.
My experience wasn't good in terms of a bad slow chek-in and lots of waiting on phone to talk with front desk and restaurant. The infrastructure is really good. The staffs are polite but busy to talk to you sometimes.
