"Beautiful modern building that doesn't quite hit the mark"
The new building alongside the old palacio is a triumph. It's sleek and good-looking. Our room was bright and very handsome. It's all glass walls between loo, wardrobe and bathroom and the rest of the room. Decor is all very modern and white with splashes of colour. It has great eye appeal. As a room to stay in, it's less successful. The sink is in the entrance hall (not a problem in itself) and the only place to put anything is on the sink edge or at floor level in a sort of marble cubby hole. There's nowhere to hang your bathrobe apart from a butcher's hook on the towel rail over the bath. As the shower has no tray (again, not necessarily a problem) the floor of the bathroom is soaked after a shower and so going back in to hang up your robe is impractical. Bedside tables are marble boxes with a light in. They look great. However, there's no drawer, no ledge, and precious little space on top for your night time bits and bobs. Drying my hair was achieved by taking the shaving mirror and setting it up near a sofa - there was no electric point that I could see near a mirror. Staff are efficient but not welcoming (apart from the man who we saw on the final day as we checked out). The hotel was helpful in booking a tour of the Alhambra for us, but failed to mention that we would have to pay for it in cash on the day. It was an unwelcome surprise to be told on the last day of our holiday that we had to pay 104Eur before going on the tour. This meant we needed to get more cash out. In the hotel's defence, the cash option is to avoid you having to pay VAT if the hotel takes the payment, but this is something that it would have been useful to know when we booked (which was weeks ago) so that we could have planned our cash spend better and avoided a new, separate ATM withdrawal. The spa is really nice and we had it almost to ourselves one evening which was a real treat. The garden between the two buildings is also a nice space. On balance, the hotel has prioritised design over day-to-day practicality - it looks nice but staying in the room brings a host of small irritations. All this is fixable, though.
"A stay in Granada"
A very well situated hotel with well maintained bedrooms and bathrooms. There is a lovely terrace to have lunch or dinner upon. Helpful staff. Main disappointment is the spa pool which is minute and only 90 cams deep!!
"Exquisite Hotel with friendly staff"
Hospes is the reason why we prefer boutique hotels over conventional hotel chains like Hilton and SPG. Palacio de los Patos is located right near central downtown. The staff assisted us with restaurants in the city along with offering us suggestions for our next stop.
"Lovely, but bad Wifi"
It is a charming hotel and the garden is a lovely place to eat. The staff are great. The euro-trash vanity mirror in the bathroom that are mylar, not glass are distorted and not appropriate for that usage. I wish they hadn't cheapened the place with bad quality modern furnishings and the plastic swans outside. A hotel of this quality needs much better Wifi.
"In the heart of the city."
Attention to the finest detail and your every whim is pandered to in a beautifully restored historic building that is decorated with the most remarkable taste. Supurb terrace restaurant under shady trees in tbe very heart of the city.
