The Hotel Al Codega sits between the Rialto Bridge and the Plaza San Marco. Surrounding it are architectural gems, replete with history, and myriad restaurants, bars, and boutiques. One of the most enchanting areas of ancient Venice.
"Quiet oasis in perfect central location"
We had 3 days in Venice and this hotel helped us make the most of our short break. The hotel is located in a quiet courtyard right in the centre of Venice, a 5 minute walk from both Rialto Bridge and St Mark's Square. The staff were delightful - all extremely helpful and friendly in every way, from providing directions to particular attractions, a kettle for our room, advice on transport to the airport, etc. The breakfast was the best we have had in any hotel, with daily changes to the range of delicacies on offer. Personally, I found the bed too hard for my personal comfort but this is a very individual preference. After a day of walking around Venice, I had no trouble sleeping at all! The room was immaculately clean with daily service. Overall, the hotel was perfect.
"Excellent, I Recommend!"
I stayed at this hotel for three nights in November 2017 and everything was comfortable. The employees were all welcoming and pleasant. The room had a nice historic design that I really liked. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was perfect with a great shower. The breakfast was great and full of healthy options. I recommend and if I ever return I will stay here again.
"Delightful hotel close to major sights"
We have just completed a 15-night stay in this hotel while on a residential tour of Venice. Some comments on how to find it at the bottom. We were part of a group of 20 people and we found this hotel was a delightful place to stay and very convenient. While close to the tourist run from Rialto to San Marco, it was quiet and private. There were some mosquitoes buzzing round the room in the early morning if you left the window open but this is a hazard throughout Venice most of the year and it may account for reports from previous guests about insect bites. There was absolutely NO evidence of bed-bugs from any of our party of 20 in any room so I would be very sceptical about such comments - it is extremely likely that it was some mosquitoes. This is a small boutique hotel, attractively appointed in stylish rooms. It is small, so the common areas are not large but we were out of the hotel most of the time, this was not an issue. The hotel does have a lift so as you arrive at the hotel, proceed past the external stairs and enter via the glass doors and the lift is just around the corner - the reception is on the second floor. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly and assisted a number of us to make reservations and bookings for opera etc. Check-out is quite late (noon) so we were unable to check-in early but we could leave our luggage when we arrived early. Our room faced the courtyard which made it very sunny and quiet, but it was a bit smaller than some of the other rooms on the other side of the corridor. Our bathroom was a good size with the shower in the bathtub and there was a heated towel rail, great for drying underwear. (Not all rooms had a bathtub). There was good space to store our luggage. The wifi in the hotel was excellent and free. Rooms have a safe. The bed was large and very comfortable. The breakfast room is small and space was tight around the buffet, but the choice was especially good so people kept coming back for more. There was limited hot selection except for scrambled eggs or hard-boiled eggs, which was fine, because the cold selection was stellar – try the bruschetta with tomato with melted mozzarella, or if you are brave, go for the tiramisu. The hotel can be a bit tricky to find as the location on Google maps is a little misleading. As you come along Calle Goldoni from the direction of Rialto and Campo San Luca, you will approach the Hermes store – as you reach the store, turn right along the small calle that goes across to Calle Fuseri. About 20 m along there is a sottoportego (covered passageway) on the right side – if you look you through you can see it through takes you into a courtyard and Hotel. Not really all that difficult to find.
"Repeat visitors to this charming hotel!"
It's telling when we return someplace a second time. Our last visit was about 5 years ago and not much has changed. It's still the same cozy spot halfway between St Mark's square and the Rialoto bridge and valporetto stop a nice quiet corner courtyard to relax away from all the hubbub and energy around the bend. The rooms are exceptionally clean, with quality bedding and modern bathrooms. The shower has great water pressure all the space is efficiently planned. The breakfast is really wonderful with comfortable places to sit and many unique offerings. There are unique, quiches and eggs many different presentations as well as pastries and fresh produces. All very professionally prepared and kept clean and well stocked. The front desk staff is very friendly and professional. The lobby is one flight up but there is an elevator for your luggage-it's small but works very well. Send one person up to the lobby to catch it instead of trying to ride with it. Be sure to use the map provided by the hotel to find your way to this hotel. If you ask the locals or shop owners even one block away they will likely say they have never heard of the place leading you to believe you are in the totally wrong area when actually it's just around the bend. The last road is the hardest to find but it's easy once you know it's near the Hermes Shop. If you are asking for directions, ask for this shop and you will get a better assist from other shop owners who think that you are supporting the shops. To get a water taxi to the airport, ask at the lobby the day before and do a trial run to the pick up point for clarity...very efficient, stress free and worth every euro!
"Absolutely outstanding hotel"
I stayed in this Hotel last week with my boyfriend. It was my first visit to Venice and I had a really great time. The location is perfect, 5 minutes to reach everthing. Rooms are so lovely, venitian style, really clean and are kept with care. Breakfast is really good, you have an excellent choice from fruits to eggs, from cereal to cake, from toasted bread to beautiful croaissant with cholate, jam, ect.. so gnammi! All of the staff are nice, polite, good manners. They are always at your disposition and they are really knowledge of Venice and they give you great suggestions. To conclude, I will for sure come back here and I will recommed to everyone!
