"Great stay, great area"
I spent 7 nights at the Hotel Caron and would definitely return. Quiet and well maintained with friendly, helpful staff. The great service started even before I arrived. The hotel helped me with a number of dinner reservations, always responding promptly and completing arrangements as requested. The mini-bar was great, not least for the drinks/snacks. It enabled me to keep some small items like yogurt on hand which was really nice. Staff were pleasant and helpful throughout my stay. I see another event reviewer mentioned the hotel's practice of keeping a locked front door when staff had to step away from the front desk and reported long waits after ringing the bell. This was never my experience, even returning late at night. I only had to wait on one occasion and that was for about 2 minutes. As it caused me no inconvenience, I appreciated the security practice. Finally, the area. I've stayed in a variety of different arrondissements and really liked the Marais. Especially great on Sundays, when streets are close down to most traffic, though naturally very busy. Very convenient to Metro.
"Don't come late"
Don't consider going out for dinner if you stay in Hotel Caron. If you return after 10.00 pm expect to wait, wait, wait .... the hotel door is locked, you don't get a key to open yourself but have to ring a bell and then to wait until the concierge gets up from his sofa after at least 10 minutes to condescendingly let you in. Don't complain - you will be insulted for disturbing him! Happened 3 nights in a row.
"Nice boutique hotel in the Marais"
As first time visitors to Paris, we found this small hotel to be just what we hoped. Just off Rue Rivoli, the Hotel Caron is just yards away from St. Catherine's Square, with its half dozen cafes. It is also within a few minutes walk to the St Paul Metro stop, and just a ten minute walk to the Seine, and a few minutes beyond that to Notre Dame and Old Paris. The Marais has many small shops, cafes and restaurants as well as the Le BHV/Marais department store.
"Highly Skilled Staff Makes Staying Here a Pleasure"
A five minute walk from Notre Dame and a one minute walk from the St. Paul Metro stop, this hotel is in an ideal location at the heart of the Marais district. I would describe the rooms as "tight," as opposed to small. But if you're out enjoying Paris every day, that's not a major drawback. One real pleasure is to see how talented the front desk staff is. Sit in the lobby for 30 minutes and you'll hear the person on duty effortlessly switch from English, to French, to Spanish, to German, to Danish and God knows how many other languages. These folks are beautifully trained to be as friendly and helpful as possible to every guest. It was a pleasure to stay there.
"One of the Best"
My wife and I spent six nights at this wonderful little hotel. It's located near the Marais, two blocks from the Metro, and a five-minute walk to the heart of the Marais and minutes to lots of restaurants. I did not expect an American style room filled with furniture. So I was not disappointed that the room was considerably smaller than rooms in the US. The room furnishings were modern and stylish. Our room was cleaned daily and the mini-refrigerator was fully stocked daily with drinks and snacks. There were three rooms on my floor (we stayed in room #22 - highly recommended). No noise in the hall. Thr front desk staff spoke fluent English. They were patient with me when asking all sorts of questions. I emailed the hotel twice before we arrived and promptly received replies to both emails. The breakfast was not included in the room fee. No big deal. There was plenty of food to eat. Croissants, cheese, hard boiled eggs, cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit and juices, and of course coffee. I have no complaints or suggestions for improvement.
