The Room is very nice, although a little on the small side. The Bathroom is very nice and well done. We had an issue with a dirty towel having been provided when we first arrived. Reception responded quickly, and personally to the issue. So we were very pleased with the service.
"Long weekend in Stockholm"
We booked a room at the Hotel Diplomat with much anticipation having visited Stockholm numerous times and always admired the hotel from the outside. There is no getting away from it - it looks lovely with the awnings open in July sunshine. We booked a Superior Double, which we also stayed in. The room was very small but it had a nice tiny balcony from which you could also catch a glimpse of the sea. Bathroom was also quite small but very clean with nice amenities. The reduction from five stars is partially caused by the room size, you don't get a lot for your money size wise, nor were there tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Breakfast was good, as often is the case in the Nordics, you weren't really left wanting for anything. The ability to make your own waffles is a nice touch (not that we did). Location is superb, walking distance to most places you would like to visit when in Stockholm, yet somehow removed from the "worst" hustle of downtown. Overall, a nice stay, slightly hampered by the size of the room and the lack of final touches on few things. E.g. we had to chase for coffees on more than one morning, coffee was served from reasonably battered and stained (jam, marmalade) flasks when it arrived. Unless you had a cappuccino which came in a cup :-) The same thing when we ordered coffee to the room, the outside of the thermos could have used a proper clean. Picky' Yes. But at this end of hotels you can be. Would I stay again. Yes, but will take a look around before my next trip. And a final note - the little cocktail bar is brilliant!
This hotel is in a great location across from the water. The staff there were terrific. They were so friendly and helpful. I must mention Maxwell who is their doorman, what a fantastic, friendly and courteous gentleman. I was a pleasure to meet him. If you are thinking of staying here then I say go for it. Good size bedrooms and bathrooms cleaned to a high level. I truly recommend this hotel and I would not hesitate to go back there.
"Delighttul boutique hotel in a fantastic location"
This is a wonderful boutique hotel with a very nice but understated lobby. We got a wonderful room on the fourth floor with a killer view of the ferry boat quay. The room was very modern, well appointed and clean. Nice touches like a radio that connects to your smart phone via Bluetooth for music, etc. The restaurant in the hotel is top notch and the buffet breakfast is outstanding. The location on tony Strandvagen can't be beat and is nearby many tourist attractions, restaurants, the ferry quay, etc. Definitely well worth a try the next time you are in Stockholm!
"Another amazing find"
Hotel Diplomat Stockholm. We have only good things to say of this hotel. Ideally situated on the best street facing the water and the old town, near to everything beautiful. The hotel has classical elegance and charm with every modern convenience and very generously stocked with everything the traveller needs. A very generous breakfast buffet and a very inviting restaurant are features, as are the helpful staff. Request a room with a water view . They are beautiful. Be warned...there is an historic and rather small lift which can be slow. When it comes it is worth the wait..a real work of art.
