"A lovely hotel with a beautiful setting"
My advice would be not to book when a conference is being held at the hotel, as it seemed to impact on the service we received. An example would be at breakfast when the chef was running between the conference room and the main dining room.
The hotel was very nice. Staff were friendly and the food was excellent. The golf courses on site were superb. The downside of this hotel was the vastly overpriced and extortionate price for drinks €14 for just less than a pint and even more for a short and mixer. The cheapest bottle of wine was €32 Both bars in the hotel were as you would expect at these prices, empty. If the hotel was to reduce the price to below €10 then maybe they would get extra revenue. If you go into Trouville 10 mins away you can get a beer for €8. If you are going to this region for a golf trip I cannot stress enough how fantastic the courses are but you might want to consider a cheaper hotel like Ibis or similar.
"Staff can "make" or "break" it."
Stayed for two nights over a weekend mid Sept 2017 The Bar staff are sulky and the service is appallingly slow, however having corralled the head bar man over the course of an evening, he did start to warm. Shouldn't need to do that and the bar which has a lovely setting needs a real character to run and put his/her stamp on the place. Drinking here is not cheap, a large JW Black label is €50 Great vista over the water and golf courses. Standard room was a good size. Breakfast very good. Took 3 phone calls to struggle to make the room booking a month before and despite eventually getting a confirmation email, arrived to discover only 1 of the two rooms had been booked, the duty manager professionally smoothed over that within 10 minutes but it could have gone horribly wrong. In my previous calls trying to book a room reservation I asked to speak to the concierge to request to book a restaurant in town. Each time I rang reception they couldn't put me through to the concierge as they couldn't get hold of someone. I was therefore a little surprised when I arrived to find the reception located 3 feet from the concierge on a shared L shape counter. The clientele is chic and a destination for Parisians escaping the city for a weekend Would I go back......... yes
Great hotel and the refurb looks great too. Staff are friendly and helpful. Appreciate the weather has not been too good but the golf course could do with a little more TCL. On arrival our room was upgraded free of charge.
"good spot for short break"
took advantage of a special offer for a stay on the way through France. The weather was diabolical on arrival, wind rain etc., and unfortunately someone had parked in the one disabled space right in front of the hotel. However, we unloaded and parked further up later on. First thing we were aware of was despite the size of the foyer the whole place was warm and inviting. Very inviting bar area and the dining room was light and with an outside terrace area overlooking the countryside out to sea. All the rooms were very comfortable and well equipped. Only gripe was the climb in and stand in the bath shower system which isn't always an easy option. The receptionist did change one room for us to accommodate this with a walk in shower for one member of our party which was superb. Signage to the hotel could be more prominent in the town or outskirts as we would never have found it in the dusk without Google satnav and passenger guidance. Staff were on the whole friendly and polite. Our only gripe was the fact we had booked into the restaurant for dinner but were told on the last evening it would not be possible as there was a corporate event!!! I realise that these large hotels rely heavily on such functions together with golf (clue in the title of hotel) and weddings, but surely it is normal practice to have separate function rooms for such events not throw your residents out of the hotel. we were not the only residents to be very disgruntled about this and I assume this isn't the first time its happened. However, after our initial shock, and having agreed that the food wasn't all that memorable though very pricey, we enjoyed a fabulous meal in the town of Deauville at the Café de Paris! I would stay there again, and recommend but only on the special offer and probably eat in town where there is a great choice of eateries and not so expensive.
