"Cancelled our rooms at the last minute with no notification"
I reserved this hotel for two families for two nights several months in advance of our vacation. I got an extremely good price via one of the more popular hotel engines and felt pleased. After a week or so the hotel begun to email me with requests to change to more ezpensive rooms due to the fact both families have one small child. I assured them both kids fit between the parents on a queen bed and after a back and forth argument they seemed to accept this. Note we had booked two Junior Suites. A week before the trip the room was cancelled without prior warning. Just an email from the hotel engine stating the room was cancelled. I called said engine and they informed me the hotel had the right to do this because they had tried to charge both rooms on my credit card 14 days prior to arrival and my cc company had declined. Again please note I had chosen ”pay at the hotel” as th option with the right to cancel 7 days prior ( not 14!). So now I and my brothers’ family are flying to France with no rooms in Nice. I had chosen the hotel for the children due to indoor pool. Imagine the room avail/ fee situation now compared three months ago when I made my original reservation. I rate Goldstar Resort and Suites the lowest score for awful customer service and leaving two families with small children in an awful bind.
"Weekend in Nice, France"
Overall I was disappointed with the Goldstar Resort and Suites. The rooms in fairness were more than adequate for a weekend but the 'suites' lacked that extra touch of comfort and I have therefore only given it an average rating. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the location was within 5 mins of promenade and 10 mins to train station. Perhaps the most disappointing item was the breakfast room which is in serious need of upgrading. It was the probably the most basic i have experienced. The breakfast was adequate but moderate. The breakfast room reflected the general lack of creature comforts for a 'not so cheap' stay.
"Nice hotel goldstar suites and resorts "
Had an amazing time hotel was lovely pool a little too covered but all in all was really nice, the only advice I would give is get a map streets all look the same and plan your trip so you make most of your time here. Also bus are very cheap and taxis very expensive.
"But tired ... overall not too bad"
Arrived as walk ins recommended by a taxi driver, it was ok, I was about to complete the booking on booking.com and we arrived so I knew we could get accommodation, booking.com was charging £ 167.00 yet when it came to check in with the hotel at the front desk it was £ 297.00 I queried it and the girl said ' not for this room ' you will be upgraded ! - the girl on the desk looked tired & very worn out, the other girl spent ten minutes running around the hotel looking for a clean room that was suitable and ready. The lift to the rooms is ancient & rickety We stayed in room 601 - it was dark but ok, wooden floor, small kitchenette & the sofa pulled out and ready for single occupancy, we called down for heating it seemed the room was a bit damp, overall it was ok, the pool area was nice and calm, bit cramped, breakfast room was friendly but not much choice of what I call a decent hearty breakfast, it was very continental and the cheapest of offerings ! Upon checkout the next morning we noticed dogs at the reception with other guests and when my husband enquired about pets and separate pet rooms, the reception lady simply said, ' all dogs welcome in all rooms 'whilst pets are adorable if you don't have them yourself then you don't expect to sleep in rooms at nearly £ 300.00 per night that have had pets stayed in them, Some nice touches, great location, bit tired in areas, but we found it pleasant enough & grateful we could get a room from just walking in off the street in a very busy & popular Nice.
"Perfect - Couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough!"
From the moment I booked to the time that we left, I cannot fault the Goldstar Resort & Suites. There were 14 of us for a hen do from Friday 29th September to Sunday 1st October. We wanted somewhere a bit nicer than the average type of hotel you usually get on hen do's, and this one seemed to fit the bill, with a perfect location in the centre of Nice. When I booked, as with any hen party, there were a lot of requests, changes and add-ons, and each time I emailed the hotel with issues to be resolved and questions, they were always extremely helpful and friendly and gave excellent assistance with things to do and recommendations for the local area. Upon arriving we were very pleased to see that our Junior Suites had been upgraded to Ambassador suites and the rooms far exceeded our expectations. So spacious and immaculately clean, with an interesting and useful layout. We had a fantastic first day enjoying the beautiful views on the solarium which had plenty of sunbeds. The waiter was absolutely perfect and so friendly and helpful, serving the drinks to us by the pool and the free canapés were delicious and such a lovely addition. The breakfast was also excellent and the added service of room service continental breakfast was also much appreciated and thoroughly enjoyable. All of the staff throughout the hotel were completely professional and friendly 100% of the time. The location was ideal for many local restaurants and the beach, and it is only a pleasant 15-20 minute walk into old town. The only slight negative issue I can say is the lack of room keys, as they only issue one key per room, but this did not impact our stay. Thank you Goldstar for a wonderfully enjoyable weekend, made better by your stunning hotel and 10/10 service.
