"A bit outdated, separated buildings but still nice"
I stayed in this hotel several times. This hotel consists of 3 or more separate buildings (at least I stayed in 3 of them) and has 2 receptions. So don't be surprised when the receptionist tells you to go to another building for the room. The rooms are clean but mostly not newly decorated. The location is really good, close to harbour and public attractions and I think this is main marketing strategy of this hotel. I really didn't like the breakfast in this hotel, maybe just because of the lack of regular cheese. I mostly ate nutella only in the breakfast and pay roughly 20€ for it.
"Nice Hotel on the River"
We stayed for the week-end in February, it was very cold in Hamburg, but the room was good, the hotel is well placed for the train service, and close to many tourist spots. The Bar is worth a visit, in a high Tower, bit as it only opens at 18h00, it was already dark, so the view was more of the night lights and tugs and boats on the river.
"One Night Stay - Would Use Again"
I needed a hotel in Hamburg for one night prior to travelling on to Hannover the following morning so my main priority is that it had to be close to a railway station and of reasonable quality. I selected the Hafen, it was a 3 minute walk from the nearest station, the hotel is in two blocks each with it's own reception, I stayed in the more modern block. Welcome by reception was excellent and check in was quick and efficient. Bed room was modern, clean and functional, bed was comfortable and there was plenty of wardrobe space, bathroom had a great walk in shower. Wifi signal and speed was excellent. There are various places to eat in the hotel from Restaurant to Diner to BeerStube, I chose the BeerStube and selected from it's simple menu, service was great, food was quick and tasty and the beer excellent, the price was also reasonable. For a nightcap I went to the Tower Lounge drinks slightly more expensive, it was busy so couldn't really take advantage of the views but what I could see it would be a great vantage point for some pictures of the city. I didn't take breakfast due to the early start in the morning but in my opinion it was expensive compared to most hotels I stay in and well above my suggested expense limit. Checkout like checkin was fast and efficient. Final comments, all the staff I met were professional, courteous and helpful. Next time in the area I will definitely stay again.
"Perfect - except no aircondition "
Perfect location. Very close to the harbour and 3 Metro lines at Landungsbrucken for rest of city. Good continental breakfast, accommodating staff. Parking garage. No aircondition a must during summer.
Make sure you ask for a room with a view of the Elbe and the waterfront. Staff are friendly and efficient. Breakfast in the Diner offers a very wide choice of quality food, well-presented and tasty; and is a less formal venue than the restaurant. Lunch, tea, coffee or drinks on the south-facing terrace (in sunny weather!) is a real pleasure. Late evening cocktails in The Tower offer a unique experience with awesome views of the city after dark. Rooms are on the small side, but clean and perfectly adequate - wifi is free and OK - not spectacular. The hotel is a former maritime academy and there is nautical bric-a-brac everywhere, much of it of great interest (though the stories are not interpreted). The convenient location is a real asset. We'd stay here again.
