Excelente servicio y atencion del personal. Te hacen sentir muy comodo.Comment of M. Maria Jose , Spain the 2016-12-05
Very good value, but would expect a 5-star hotel to have a decent selection of international newspapers available (in several languages) and a broader range of TV channels.Comment of W. Jonathan, United Kingdom the 2015-03-26
"Location and service "
Just stayed for one night there...the services are good but not excellent. I do like the location. It's a nice change after two nights by the river. We weren't greeted with welcome drinks. Not sure why. The room is small and dated but the dining room and courtyard are beautiful.
"Old fashioned charm"
Centrally located for easy walking to most of Porto sights. The lovely old woods, staircase, tiny elevator, formal dining area all reminiscent of greater days. I understand it will undergo a major refurbishment and am anxious to see the changes but it still has a lot of class and character not found everywhere. Staff very helpful and friendly. Loved the buffet breakfast, lots to choose from.
"Old world elegance and sophistication"
We recently visited Madrid, Sevilla, Barcelona, Lisbon and Porto this hotel was our pick for the best of the places we stayed. It is classic old world elegance that has been updated with modern conveniences. The pictures on the website are spot on. That is exactly the way the rooms and hotel look only it's better when you're living in the pictures. The restaurant is excellent. Possibly one of the best restaurants in Porto. They also have a superlative breakfast buffet. The manager was very helpful arranging a wine tasting, lunch and boat tour in Douro. My only criticism is that if you have a car access to the hotel is poor. You have to park a long distance from the hotel and have the staff help you get your bags from the car to the hotel. The staff will then park the car for you, but whole process is very inconvenient.
"Charming and Well-Located"
As people have mentioned this hotel has tons of old world charm! I beautiful staircase and public rooms and an amazing elevator with seating banquette. But I must laugh because the hotel is not actually that old! It was built in the 1950's to resemble a 19th century manor house! Fun fact we learned from reading the Small Luxury Hotels guide found in our room. Contrary to someone else's thought, we felt Infante Sagres offered one of the best breakfasts during our stay in Portugal. I guess these things can be subjective. Am very excited to see what the renovations will entail - a good reason to come back if we are again in Porto. The location is excellent for exploring both the old and newer parts of the city.
"Loved this quirky character hotel with old fashioned charm"
This may not be for those who like hotels sleek and modern but if quirky old fashioned charm appeals, this hotel has a lot of that. We really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is well positioned in central Porto and although other reviews mention street noise we did not have any problem. We were welcomed with port, check in was efficient with a helpful map highlighting places to go and a few recommended sights. The initial impression at reception is impressive as the hotel has lovely original features on the interior, some beautiful stained glass, wooden elevator with leather seats. Our room was a reasonable size, sympathetically modernised. There are one or two odd or old fashioned quirks such as an outdated hairdryer attachment in the bathroom, and, most odd, the fact that the shower water runs through a funny red colour for a minute or two before running clear, which someone else mentioned in a "poor" review. I suspect something to do with pipes - have been other places where this happens wasn't overly concerned, just ran it clear, but guess could be disconcerting. Breakfast for most of stay was best we had so far in Portugul, with good service and good quality but last morning less good. Really busy (bank holiday), ran out of stuff, scrambled egg, milk.....quality hotel should be on top of this. We also visited restaurant (Book), which we enjoyed. Overall, not perfect, and a few bits that could be improved but we really liked.
