"Four fabulous nights"
Just returned today from 4 night break in Palma staying at the Isla de Mallorca. We booked Executive twin with terrace and was allocated room 319 it was worth the extra supplement. We had a view of sea, Belver Castle, and the pool the room was modern well appointed with amazing air con, we couldn't fault the hotel ate dinner there first night had buffet really good value for money plenty of choice also breakfast something for everyone. My daughter used the Spa and had a wonderful facial allin all a very satisfactory stay would recommend this room .
My daughter and I had a room in the main reception building on 7th floor, which provided lovely views. The pools are good (one main and one plunge pool). Hotel app 15 mins in taxi from airport (20euros inc tip). Walk to Palma old down about 15 mins, but loads of tapas/other eateries and bars on the way down two main street(after about 10 mins walking). Taxi back from palma to hotel app 5-6euros (more expensive if ordered from hotel). We were there for 4 nights and mostly we walked as it is close enough to everything. We stayed room only basis. We don't eat a lot for breakfast so breakfast at hotel in bar/reception area was great for us and good price app 4.50 euros for coffee/toast (jam)/tea or coffee. Alternatively few minutes walk takes you to a lovely little local's cafe who also offer a wide range. Reception staff were great, efficient and really helpful. We only had food at the pool cafe - salad was fine but the chicken strips we left. Drinks were quite nice. It was a race for the sunbeds - I get it especially if people are on a short break it's fine if you pop you towel down whilst you finish breakfast but some people kept the beds free for couple of hours whilst not using - and that's just ignorant when others need them. Pool area was great and I thought both pools were great size. Mostly families, couples and ladies on holiday there. Room was quiet and we had great sleep (even though I initially thought the bed would be too hard it was fine (foam mattress). Didn't use the gym but had a look and it was air-conditioned and quite well-equipped. For late check out if you can't keep your room you have use of a lockable space and can also use the shower area in the spa.
"Long weekend stay"
We stayed 2 nights. The hotel was clean, beds comfy and located conveniently for our group. The pools are on the small side and there is a lack of sun loungers, although it would be difficult to add too many more due to space. Also be aware hotel pool towels require a refundable 10 euro deposits. The pool bar service was good and good tasty. Breakfast had plenty of options and was good. There is a secure luggage room where luggage can be left prior to checking in or after check out, you are given a key and can access the room at anytime but so can any other person who has stored luggage in there. All in all we had a great stay at the hotel.
"Race for the pool"
The Hotel is in Palma city and two kilometers from city center and one kilometer from Santa Catalina, where you can find many restaurants. It is easy to walk downtown, it is going downhill. The return late at night might be more of a chore, but there is always a taxi nearby. Hotel has two buildings. Reception building with restaurant and bar. The other building has the Spa and the excercise room with enough machines to make you tired. Pool towels can be picked up here for 10€ deposit. Pool areas opens at 0900 and make shure you attend the race at start time if you want a sunbed. Another, safer choice, is to select a room, Urban with terrace, and have your own sunbeds and umbrella. Wi-fi is available all over the premises, too bad It is intermittent and not reliable enough for streaming. Pool bar offers drinks and we did not find them extra ordinary as can be read in other reviews. Breakfast is a must to include in room rate, otherwise 12€ at entrance. Most food you need is presented in different flavours. Take a look at the orange juice machine, a rare piece that has to be tested. One of the chefs makes perfect omelettes and scrambled eggs, as it should be. Dinner is a must a couple of times during your stay. Rich buffert for 18€ and the food is very good, no need to go elsewhere. Room is nice planned and has good beds. Door to bathroom is a sliding door of glass, not through-looking though. The drain in shower had problem evacuating water and floor get slippery when wet. Room safe included and morning gowns as well. Friendly and helpful staff, keeps the hotel clean and tidy.
"If you want good customer service, don't stay here"
I have stayed in a lot of hotels on my travels and I have never got such bad customer service than at this hotel. From the moment I got there, the first room I was booked into was on the first floor overlooking the car park. The man at the reception couldn't understand why two women didn't want to stay in a room overlooking the car park where random people can see them changing...seriously'! We ordered room service and were asked to pay in cash which is fine, Room service has a 5 euro extra charge which we understood. I paid the gentleman and he said he didn't have any change and that I would have to go all the way downstair to the bar to get my change. In that case I could have picked up my food downstair too right and saved my service the 5 euros and hassle. Also the impressive pictures of the pool, looks huge doesn't it' Its a quarter the size of that, it is all photo trickery. There was approx 7 people in the room and we kept getting in the way of each other and eventually gave up trying to swim in the pool.
