In the heart of Nice, facing the Mediterranean Sea, the five star hotel is located 5 km from the international airport of Nice Côte d'Azur and halfway between Cannes and Monte Carlo.

"Living on it former past"
The hotel is one of faded grandeur. There was dust behind the pictures in my room. The room needed ripping out and starting again. Breakfast was unexciting. The grapefruit juice was excellent but that was it. The waiter kept repeatedly leaning across me as I was eating to serve me coffee. This is basic stuff and should never be seen in a five star hotel. I sent the manager a e mail cataloging my experiences, I never received a reply.
Waited 3 hours to check in Room not clean Breakfast stood around and I had to request to be seated Standard of food not good Sausages not cooked Scrambled eggs full of water Told them we would not be having breakfast. Still added to my bill' Great hotel in its time Very poor management now Faded glory No one to take control and sort out Sink blocked, room not cleaned
We stayed here for two nights while attending a wedding and very much looked forward to the experience of staying at the Grande Dame hotel of Nice. First the good points; immaculate service and extraordinary artwork throughout the hotel. Next the less good points; air-conditioning which struggled to cool the room and certainly a rather austere room which did not match up to the website pictures although we were undoubtedly at the lower end of the room types. If you want your mod cons then choose an upmarket chain hotel, but if you prefer old world charm then the Negresco is well worth trying.
"Went for a drink on our anniversary "
Nothing special. Especially for the price. Not enough staff, slow service and we were short-changed by 10 Euros. Will never, ever go back. Trading on past glories and taking you for a ride in the process. There are many other decent hotels in Nice. Avoid this overrated one.
We stopped in to the hotel based in guidebook comments that said it was spectacular inside (We weren't actually staying there). One if the highlights is meant to be one if the chandeliers. We tried to have a look but was stopped by a very rude doirman. If he had just said we couldn't get any closer as we weren't residents that would have been fine. But he was very snotty and sarcastic about it. We were going to have a drink in their bar, maybe stay there in the future, but not now. How very rude.
