We were relocated to this hotel due to an overbooking, and this was definitely a pleasant surprise. The staff was nice and spoke good English, the room was clean and stylish. Shower was good as well. A cool detail was that there was a HDMI port on the wall next to your bed, so that you could plug in your laptop and watch Netflix. We didn't try it, but cool! We stayed on the 5th floor, windows to Kochhannstraße. The windows were not the thickest ones and there was some noise coming from the street (even though we were pretty high up). This didn't bother us, but if you're a light sleeper, maybe ask for a room to the yard. The door was not sound-proof either, but the floor only had about 10 rooms, not a lot of people passing by. Location was OK, with M5 tram running to Alexanderplatz (about 20 minutes) and M10 to Warschauer Straße (5-10 minutes). If you're planning on hanging out in Friedrichshain, I would say it's good. The hotel is on a bigger street and there are not a lot of restaurants and so on right downstairs - but you're in Berlin, it doesn't hurt to walk a bit further! Breakfast was really good. There was a coffee machine in the breakfast room where you could get an espresso or a cappuccino, no filter coffee. It was nice, even if you had to wait for your turn for a bit. Breakfast also included sparkling wine, which was crazy. We loved enjoying mimosas on our Sunday morning - cherry on top of the cake.
"Very nice hotel"
Very nice and quiet hotel, super sauna and a fantastic breakfast. If only the cleaning personel would do a better job, this would be bingo. But we are really impressed by this hotel and would probably come back.
"Conveniently located, great breakfast, excellent staff"
The New Berlin is located in a quieter part of Berlin (near-ish Alexanderplatz) but is close enough to "tram" to the sights you'll want to see in central Berlin. With a good-sized room, an excellent breakfast buffet (it's well worth including when you book), amazingly quiet rooms, and helpful staff, this hotel is a solid, pleasant choice. One other tip: to get around and see as much as you can of central Berlin and to get to/from the airport, get the all-day (or multi-day) transportation pass upon arriving at the airport.
I loved this hotel. When the hotel staff told me that I would be staying in the "other" building I initially shuddered--this is rarely good! But I was delighted that booking a "classic" room meant beautiful wood floors, high ceilings and gorgeous tall windows. The bathroom was completely updated and gorgeous. The best part of this hotel was the breakfast. On Sundays it's brunch which means free prosecco! I also enjoyed the salmon, cheese spread, and delicious breads (croissants and rolls were my favorites). On weekdays it's most of the same stuff just without the prosecco. The location is good and the staff is very helpful. The sound-proofing also seems terrific because it's in a bustling area and I was on the first floor and didn't hear any street noise. My only less-than-stellar experience was I felt that the beds were not very comfortable. That said, the blackout curtains worked really well. I'd definitely return to this hotel!
"Good option to stay in Berlin"
The room was nice at a resonable price! The staff were also very polite and helpful. I have made several special requests, and havent been charged for that! Also the public transportation is very close nearby, so you will have no problem visiting Berlin!
