"Good hotel but location is not for sightseeing. Far from centre."
LOCATION Going to Berlin, I certainly read a bunch of reviews. Reviews about this hotel were only positive and I decided that this is a good option. Last year in Spain I lived in the center and slept with ear plugs, so I wanted a quieter place. Looking at the city map, it seemed to me that the hotel is not far from the center, however this is not at all the case. Yes, there is a metro station next to, but to getto the center (Alexanderplatz) you need to make 14!!! stops on the metro and it takes about 25 minutes. Yes, there are also S-bahn stations nearby, but you need make 7-10 stops to the city center. It's a lot, is not it' Considering the fares, you will spend at least 6-7 euros per day on tickets only. By the way, it makes sense to buy a day ticket, which valid on all types of public transport. Now I sincerely wonder how this location can be good. If you came to live in a room and do not go out of the district, then yes. If you want to explore the city, walk in interesting places, then all of them are far away. STAFF Staff is competent, friendly and always ready to help. All speak good English. ROOM They gave me room number 110 on the 1st floor. The room is not very large, but for 1 person is normal. Actually, this is a 2-bed room, but for 2 people it is clearly cramped: for placing things there's only a small open wardrobeto with 2 shelves, 2 drawers and a small compartment with hangers. There is a safe, hairdryer. Mini-bar / fridge is missing, which of course is bad. Also there is no air conditioning and a floor fan is not an equivalent replacement. Free WIFI with good speed. BATHROOM The bathroom is very modest. There is soap, shower gel and body lotion. Your toilet and other accessories you are invited to place on a small shelf and the sink itself and believe me, for the girl the space won`t be enough. And if you remember that this is a 2-bed room, for things two people space is generally sufficient. BREAKFAST I can't say I was delighted with the breakfast. The choice was not huge but everything was tasty and it was difficult to remain hungry. After Steigenberger hotel de Saxe in Dresden, the breakfast in general seemed to me meager, but overall not bad. I was pleased with the choice of tea, it is really great. SNACK I read in reviws that from 14 to 21 you can have a snack on the top floor in the lodge. In May 2017 this time was dropped from 14 to 17. I came 2 times. The first time around 4 pm and there were only cupcakes (apparently after breakfast). The second time i was there at 15 o'clock and saw only one remaining small sandwich. SUMMARY 1. Far from the center and all attractions. The area itself is quiet and good, but getting to the center is far and not cheap. In short, it's not for the young people and the city tour. 2. Down blankets. Impossible to sleep In the summer. 3. No air conditioning, no mini bar/fridge. 4. There is no countertop in the bathroom, so it will be difficult for the girls to place all their belongings. 5. The windows of the room 110 overlook the courtyard parking. If the window is open and someone leaves early in the morning, then the rattling wheels of suitcases will most likely wake you up. I have no complaints about the hotel but next time would stay elsewhere next to center. Perhaps center is a more noisy place, but you will save time and money on travel, as well as help your own feet.
Hotel ottto is located in A quit street, not far from the shopping street. Nearby you have U-barn and S- bahn. Many good restaurants around the Hotel. Nice and helpful staff. We had a family rooom. IT was a big room with a litle kitchen. The beds was very comfertable. The kids could have icecreame when ever they wanted. Very good breakfast buffet with champagne. Every afternoon you can have coffey/ tea and cakes on the top flor, or on the balcony. Parking in the backyard for 15 euro pro day. I recomend this Hotel
Hotel Otto is perfect for visiting Berlin. Clean, modern and quiet. Friendly staff. Fantastic breakfast buffet (with Champagne) on the top floor. Decor and amenities slightly quirky in a pleasing and amusing way (e.g: you must press the 'Surprise' button in the lift.)
"Superb breakfast in a quiet but central location"
We stayed at Hotel Otto 4 nights April 2017. The hotel is very conveniently situated in a quiet street close to both U-Bahn and S-Bahn, in walking distance from the shopping area Kurfürstendamm and Kaiser Wilhelm Gedächtniskirche, with plenty of good restaurants close by. We had booked a studio on the 6th floor (elevator) with small kitchenette. The service at the reception was friendly and competent. The room was spatial and pleasant, the small kitchen equipped with everything from coffee machine, water kettle to refrigerator, microwave, etc. Free coffee, tea and water. Free WiFi. Our only critical remark with respect to the room concerns the size of the bathroom: For a studio, it was very much on the small side. In particular the space allowed for the toilet was an absolute minimum. On the other hand, the breakfast buffet and breakfast service by the lady taking care of the breakfast was absolutely extraordinary! An unbelievable selection of egg, bacon, fish, salads, sausage, cheese, fruit, cereals, rolls, croissants, cake, 3 type of juice, etc from early to noon. Free coffee, fruit and cake in the afternoon. An extremely friendly service in spite of many guests to take care of. A hurra for good service! We arrived by car and had booked a parking lot (very convenient but rather expensive) at the hotels proprietary parking.
"top ratings + low prices = a clear winner"
Hotel Otto is located on a nice quiet street, surrounded by other boutique hotels and numerous restaurants. It is a few blocks west of the Tiergarten and zoo in a good neighbourhood called Charlottenburg. A metro station is within easy walking distance. The taxi drive from the airport takes about 20 minutes and costs around 20 euros. The hotel offers everything you need for a comfortable night's sleep, without the frills such as a gym, pool, large lobby, etc. And what the Otto does, it does very well. The rooms are large, nicely decorated, and immaculately clean. The beds are comfortable and the hotel is very quiet at night. The staff members are friendly and efficient. The hotel has an elevator, but it must be reached from 7 steps up or down and is therefore not wheelchair accessible. The breakfast is superb and it's served in a large, bright rooftop room, with outdoor seating in summer, overlooking the city. A nice touch is the complimentary afternoon tea and goodies served in the same room as breakfast. Well-maintained city bicycles can be rented for 12 euros. WiFi in rooms is free and reasonably fast. I highly recommend this hotel. Unless you need all the luxury amenities of a 5 star, you will not be disappointed by Hotel Otto.
