The location of the Hotel Petit Palace Plaza is perfect for both tourists and business travelers. Nearby you will find the amazing buildings of the Stock Exchange and the Ritz. A short walk via Plaza de la Lealtad and Alfonso XII street brings you to the beautiful park El Retiro.
The hotel is also situated in the so-called collecting Art Walk – an area with the three most prestigious museums of the city such as the Museo del Prado, the Reina Sofia and Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum.
Thanks to its unbeatable location other emblematic attractions such as the Gran Via, Retiro Park and the Plaza Mayor can be reached easily and quickly. Going to Airport Barajas International Airport and the IFEMA only takes a short car ride.
Very good hotel in excellent location - particularly for museums and galleries.Comment of B. Stephen , United Kingdom the 2014-09-30
Desayuno completo. Excelente relación calidad-precio. Sin duda, repetiremos.Comment of C. "good service, clean, close to museums. good value too"
spent two nights here on a trip specifically to the museums ( the big three), walking distance easily to all three., safe neighborhood, trees, attractive. A couple of cafes on the same block but nothing special and good just for breakfast or lunch, not dinner. No restaurants nearby except the pricey Ritz. Hotel staff quite hospitable and helpful. Rooms clean and quite nice. Ones on the street side have a noise issue at night, of course, but they also have a little balcony, windows that open, and nice parquet floors, a bit more.... but well worth it. We did not get their breakfast due to the price, far cheaper on the street anywhere at a cafe, and the pastries at the cafes are cheap and fresh. About 1 mile or less to Puerto de Sol, the center of all things tourist, including the Madrid walking tours.
Great location and such a cute hotel. Rooms were small but that's standard for the city. They were clean and comfy. Breakfast was convenient with traditional Spanish breakfast and healthy options too.
"great location,but a few problems."
This hotel is located in a beautiful area of fantastic architecture and close to the main tourist district, but far enough away to be quiet. The room was clean, but there was a strong smell of some sort of perfume or oil of some kind when we arrived. It dissipated after a day or so. Even with the air conditioning turned right up, it was too hot for sleeping with the covers on, and too cold without them. As there was no top sheet, I couldn't even use just the sheet to cover me. The included breakfast was very good, with many choices and lots of variety.
This hotel has many wonderful things about it, but some serious flaws unfortunately detract from what could have otherwise been a lovely stay. First the good: Superb breakfast, offering an impressive array of healthy and delicious choices with service to match. Excellent location, safe area, totally walkable. Charming - the street, balconies, and many aspects of the hotel. Spacious room (except bathroom). Generally pleasant staff. The bad: The bathroom and showers are very poorly designed. We had a flood in our room the first night, with water leaking out of the shower, all over the entire bathroom floor and out on to the wooden hallway floor. We've since read this happened to others as well. The problem is there's no barrier to keep water in the shower area. Staff arrived promptly to clean up. Our dinner plans with another couple were delayed an hour because of this situation. Subsequent showers required us to create our own 'dike' using rolled up towels to prevent a recurrence. Even then some leakage occurred and consequently showers had to be cut short. When we asked to be moved to another room, we were advised that all the rooms were like this! Totally unacceptable for a 4 star hotel. This was a major inconvenience for us. The offer of free breakfast to offset this was appreciated and appropriate, however we had already prepaid for breakfast; disappointingly, nothing further was offered. At the minimum, a reduction in our room rate or some other compensation should have been offered. The bathroom was tight for two, with inadequate counter and storage space, this despite our 'superior' room. Upon checking into our room, the safe was non-functional, requiring a wait for staff to reset it. So a disappointing start, when we expect to drop our things off and head out to explore. We also weren't comfortable with use of our credit cards to secure the lock, preferring a pass code which is standard at most hotels. Our room was in rather rough shape, with chipped paint, no desk lamp. Room was stuffy, with no apparent ventilation (other than fresh air from the balconies). So after a day out, we'd return to an uncomfortably hot and stuffy room. Water bottles, obviously needed in the morning on leaving for a day's sightseeing, were not offered until mid afternoon. We found the mix of classic with mod style was odd and unattractive, especially the bathroom design and its semi transparent glass door; really tainted the lovely charm of the original design elements of the hotel. Finally, our early check-in request (12:30 instead of 2pm) was met with a charge of €40. We've travelled the world and have found such a request would be easily accommodated with a smile and no additional charge if available; never experienced such an outrageous charge for a mere 1 1/2 hrs. Overall, a potentially lovely hotel with some major problems. Even if addressed, I'm not sure I would consider staying again as the problems we experienced were a big inconvenience affecting the enjoyment of our stay and simply not something we expect with a hotel of this class and expense. Further, while staff were polite, these issues were not dealt with to our satisfaction.
"Lovely hotel !"
We really wished we could stay longer at this hotel, but that has to be another time. I booked a Family-room, for me and my husband, a granddaughter an her baby. The room was beatifully decorated, there was a extra bed for the little girl, - everything was nice and clean ! - All members of the staff was so friendly and helpful, - and not to mention the breakfast, it was the best we have had in a hotel for a long time ! We recommend this hotel, also because of the location. We will be back, for sure !
