Well-located right opposite the Mercado San Miguel and Plaza Mayor, this hotel has an excellent front desk staff and clean, modern rooms. We had a room on the 7th floor with a great roof top view of the Royal Palace and the cathedral. Because our room was at the back there was no street noise despite the very central location. The breakfast was excellent with vegan (I am not) and gluten free options. The fresh fruit selection including pomegranates was one of the best I have seen. If you can't find something you would enjoy eating for breakfast- you must be very hard to please. The fresh, clean rooms, good in-room safe accessed by your credit card and comfortable beds made for a pleasant stay. The hotel also has good free wifi but no English speaking TV channels but after all you are not in Madrid to watch TV. The only negative i could find in the whole hotel, unless you are a very picky person, would be the drain smell that seemed to defy the air freshener spayed by cleaning staff. However the hotel was trying to deal with that and it can certainly be a problem in some large cities world-wide not just Madrid. I would certainly return to the Petit Palace Plaza Mayor.
"Location location location"
This hotel was excellent and thanks to the reviews I thought it was going to be a good choice... gentleman at the front desk that was there every morning with glasses and the day we checked in was awesome first thing he did was give us a map to show us where we were and point the important sites and how to get around that map was my savior for 3 days... Rooms were very comfy clean bathroom modern but with little privacy because it has a glass gray door so make sure you know the person that you're staying with... Great big windows that you can open up look out to the city and the barrel roofs.. Breakfast was okay nothing to write home about.... but again nice staff and it is truly an excellent excellent location.. Across the street from the market.. Plaza Mayor walking distance to hop on hop on bus.... so many shops restaurants cafes.. I would definitely stay there again... Except the sign for the hotel name was turned off every night so sometimes it was difficult for me to find the hotel.. They really need to fix that sign...
"Small rooms, no view, great location"
First the location is great. We checked into the room and there was a dirty sock on the floor in the back corner by the window. The rooms are small and in my option over priced at 200 dollars a night. There is no view from the windows - the windows faced a closed, dungy courtyard. The breakfast is marginal and included in the price. The bathroom showers are larger than the area so the water shoots over the shower area resulting in water on the floor and thus water damage on the ceiling from the room above (I assume). The 2nd day we retuned to find the cleaning lady left a bottle of cleaning solution in the room. There are no coffee makers in the room and the safe didn't work. The first day the keys didn't work for many of the rooms and the lady was going around plugging something in the key locks in the doors. Our keys didn't work on the first day despite many attempts - the guy at the desk didn't believe us so he came to try himself.
"Great hotel in a great location "
Just got back from a three nite break in Madrid which we stayed at the petite palace, I choice this hotel from TripAdvisor & I was disappointed it was really nice clean, tidy, a great breakfast plenty of choice, great location ( 20mins in a taxi from the airport) & right opposite a great food market that did amazing tapas we went there every day for lunch. Madrid has to be one of the cleanest city I’ve been too there didn’t seem to be litter anywhere & you felt very safe walking around weather it was in the day or nite, I can definitely recommend Madrid as a city break & petit palace as someone to stay.
"Great central place"
The Petit Palace chain is known for its good downtown hotels and this one is no exception. Although the staff comes across as a bit rude (hopefully it's just their English skills), the hotel makes up for it. Nice touches such as a small bottle of wine make you feel good.
