"Just like staying with friends!"
What a wonderful place! There are so many positives for this hotel, that I will share below, but the biggest plus is surely the quality of the staff that this hotel employs. From the moment we walked in the door we were made to feel at home, and nothing was a problem. In particular, the front desk staff and breakfast room staff greeted us warmly and remembered us each day. But there is one person I would like to mention specifically... and that is Pim at the front desk. Pim went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. Seeing his smile as we came back to the hotel each day was like coming home! He treated us with the warmth of a close friend. He even personally delivered a gift tray to our room for my son (with sweets and toys). My son loved Pim and would chat to him at every opportunity. Pim even made sure that on our last night he knew what time we wold be checking out the next day so that we could say goodbye to each other. It was a pleasure to be his guest, and I hope he gets a raise, or a promotion... or both!! He is the sort of ambassador any hotel would be proud to have front of house. Other positives' -the location is great - good access to a range of useful metro lines and an easy stroll to the centre, but far enough away from the tourist traps so therefore there a better more local type dining options nearby -the hotel is fresh and modern with big clean rooms -the bed was really comfortable -the breakfast is AH. MA. ZING.! Its so nice to have delicious, quality, healthy options -convenient to the airport and intercity railway stations Not too many negatives here... -it can be a bit noisy if that bothers you, but quieter room options are available if you ask. -the pillows on the bed were terribly uncomfortable In summary, just stay here - you wont regret it! A great hotel option in Madrid at a reasonable price. PS - Pim, if you ever read this, know that PePe bear enjoyed travelling to Morocco and through Europe with our family :-)
"Great Location and Wonderful Staff"
Located on a busy historic neighborhood where tourist spots and shops can be reached by walking. Petit Palace Santa Barbara is a nice place to stay. The staff were very friendly, the room are spacious, the toiletries are complete, and they have a great assortment of coffee for breakfast. Plaza Mayor and Museo Del Prado are 20 minutes away by foot unless you stop by the countless shops along the way.
"Love that the loan of a bicycle is included in the price."
I enjoyed the vibe in the neighborhood. It was convenient to the center of the city and just down the hill from the metro, an easy ride from the airport. I enjoyed the use of a bicycle to explore and enjoy the park.
Our room was very comfortable, clean and quiet, overlooking the internal courtyard on the first floor. The shower room was good too. Superfast free wifi was better than any other hotel I've stayed in. All the staff were very efficient, friendly, helpful and welcoming. The buffet breakfast provided a very wide choice - fruit, smoothies, cereals, juices, yogurt, eggs, avocado, breads, pastries, cakes, hot savoury dishes and good coffee, tea and chocolate. The main sights are within walking distance and there are lots of restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel. We ate in the hotel too at night and had some nice food and lovely wine in relaxing surroundings. A very enjoyable stay.
"Great hotel except breakfast"
Great hotel, friendly reception staff, clean and nice room, pricing was also acceptable. But, breakfast was rather disappointing, the wasn't much to choose from. We were here 3 nights, the second morning it was already a bit boring. Third morning it is was really boring. Very little bread, barely any bread-rolls (pistollets), ... In Madrid we found some bakeries which are offering very nice breakfast, like La Mallorquina. The room itself could have used some more shelves and coat racks. Apparently in November they turn off the air conditioning, we could not get it to work. Opening the windows was a great alternative, but there was a lot of noise in the streets. Unbelievably, the street noise was none stop! I guess that is the downside of being in the city center of Madrid. All in all, great hotel, nice spacious rooms, rather poor breakfast and noisy neighborhood. Oh one more thing, free WIFI was extremely fast.
