The Savoy Hotel Petit Palace Alfonso XII is located on the historic street of Alfonso XII, in the prestigious area of El Retiro, between the Puerta de Alcalá and Ave-Atocha train station, and just 100 meters from the Prado and Reina Sofia Museums.
"Top reception and service"
I chose the hotel for its excellent location and high quality. I know Madrid very well for having lived there for more than 10 years. I booked on Booking.com a room for the 14/02, to go to the Real Madrid-PSG match. And arriving at the hotel, I realized that I made a mistake on the reservation. It is made for the 14/03. Laura Ortega, with great kindness and wonderful service, found us a very nice room with a view of Retiro Park. She was able to cancel the reservation of 14/03 free of charge. My son and I enjoyed a fantastic game and slept in a very nice room. Thank you Laura
"Convenient and Comfortable"
My wife and I stayed here for four nights in a very cold February, and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had a room on the fifth floor overlooking Retiro Park. Although there is a busy main road between the hotel and the park, there was little traffic noise, as the balcony windows were well sealed. The room itself was decently equipped, including a laptop for guest use, although without any coffee making equipment (this doesn’t seem to be a standard provision outside the UK). The staff were unfailingly polite, friendly and helpful, and most spoke at least some English; the reception staff were of course distressingly fluent. The breakfast buffet, which included the full range of cold offerings (cereal, fruit, cheese, meat, bread, cakes and so on), was excellent and we stocked up before venturing out into the icy blasts. The small bar is cosy and we had a drink there before bedtime each evening (it does tea and coffee as well as alcoholic drinks). The hotel location is very good, being a few minutes from the Prada and within easy walking distance of the Reina Sophia and Archaeological museums. The main tourist areas around the Puerta del Sol, Royal Palace and Plaza Mayor are maybe a fifteen or twenty minute walk, but this was fine as Madrid is such a pleasant place to walk in. We discovered that the Prado is free for a couple of hours each evening, so we went twice. The Reina Sophia and Royal Palace have similar arrangements. Overall, the hotel and Madrid and both highly recommended.
"Alun & Kay"
Getting from the airport is very easy train to either Recoletos or Atocha station then about 10 min walk. Hotel situated by Retiro park, easy walking access to city. Hotel staff friendly & helpful. Stayed in a double room which was modern & very clean excellent shower but could do with a little more storage space. Breakfast healthy eating style not your typical English breakfast. We had a very enjoyable stay
"Very well located, convenient and elegant"
Being located across El Retiro Park, and at walking distance to many attractions made the accommodation very fruity. Overall hotel facilities and breakfast were excellent just except the a/c being a little noisey at slow running mode. Overall satisfaction was very good, I would consider staying there again.
"very good all-round. cannot fault it"
excellent rooms, comfortable and well appointed. very helpful and competent staff. very good value for money. good central location. very good breakfast buffet. I did not try the restaurant. for someone looking for a convenient place to stay on business in Madrid it would be hard to find better
